This deal is almost like a magic trick – now you see it; now you don’t
These are really really cheap quality cards.
You get what you pay for.

In Kedushas Levi, from Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Berditcherver, it’s cited that each of the symbols on the playing cards represents a specific tumah.
That is really interesting. Do you know exactly where this is written? I would be curious to look it up.
Thanks
R. Levi Yitzchak of Berditchov (Kedushat Levi, Chanukah – “Yadua”) strongly discouraged playing cards because he believed the images on them were associated with bad klipot. – ezra Jan 28 ’18 at 5:42
See Nitei Gavriel Hilchos Chanuka 51:24 with footnotes
Also The Taamei Haminhagim (849) quotes the Bnei Yissas’char that cards represent the Greek’s impure spirit resting on the 36 cards, which parallel the 36 tractates in Shas (with Sanhedrin and Makkot combined, and the three Bavas counted individually.
There are 52 cards today.
Are the cards and images we have today the same that existed in in the 1700s?
Some decks had 36 cards (see Wikipedia) and he’s probably referring to the deck he was most familiar with
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_playing_cards
Look in the שבח המועדים on page 110 paragraph 7 were he says that one should refrain from playing with them

And yes, they are sourced in same cards. In some Chassidish and even MO circles they are seen as Avoda zara to avoid at all costs…
I didn’t look up the first Mareh mekomos yet, but this one seems to be focusing on the bitul zman “and other reasons” without mentioning what those reasons are.
Thanks for sharing.
Yes, there are a number of images on the standard playing cards that are directly linked to Avoda Zara. One example is the “club” that is an old symbol of Avoda Zara symbolizing the “trinity” (3 are really 1 kind of idea). The trinity idea predates Christianity – they took it from the pagans. That is just one example.
R’ Yosef Chaim Zonnenfeld once told a boy who held cards in his hands to go to the mikvah.
Also, dont remember source but it says somewhere that playing cards can make you possul l’aydus in Beis Din… anyone know source?
One who gambles is possul l’aydus (Mishna Sanhedrin 24b) hence the “playing with cards”…..
It has nothing to do with the trinity.
The symbol is made to look like clover, after it evolved from the German acorn suit.
The name clubs carries over from Latin when the suit was actually clubs. Like for hitting people.
yasher koach, thank you for sharing this. It is important to give chizuk when the temptation arises, thank you so much.

Yes! Finally got it before it died again.
Has this shipped for anyone? Just curious
What’s the story behind the price slowly creeping down?
Is there some sort of bidding war between two sellers?
Dead
Something tells me they are going to start paying people to take them…
I order every time cause so cheap. I guess I should start playing cards…..
do they even have any cards to sell?
Dead. Right price but won’t add to cart.

This is kind of hilarious. Amazon just sent me an email canceling my order for these from a few months ago.

It’s weird. I tried to order one 3 times and it said not avlbl. But when I put 2 in the cart, the order went through.

Dead.
I ordered like 6 months ago. They kept sending me messages that the delivery date was delayed. They never came. I don’t think this is legit.
Took a while, but mine came.
This has been dead since I checked at 9:30.AM EST
.88 is the daily in-store price for these cards at Walmart. Cheaper than the dollar store!
That’s actually expensive being that they are always 88 cents, I guess there’s inflation
Looks dead again
