Was booking my grandmother a ticket from South Florida to Chicago with her BA Avios and came across this little gem.  West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale may be just 42 miles apart, but by flying from West Palm instead of Fort Lauderdale to Chicago she saved 5,000 Avios and a little driving time.

Know of any other routes with an airport in a different zone then a nearby airport?

    @moron:
    Lol, don’t know too many people that would pay 3 times the miles for a lousy domestic first class seat.

    It all depends. If you have a family of 7 it may be worth an hour drive to save 35,000 Avios.

    Here is another way to get to where you need to go…
    NYC-Las Vegas-LAX
    I had over 200k in BA miles (thank you dan) and wanted to fly NYC-LAX this summer. Sadly, no flights are available, but what I did was fly NYC-Las Vegas (12.5k miles) and then hop on an hour flight Las Vegas-LAX using southwest miles (3.5k miles) (50k sign up bonus…thank you dan)
    Total mileage= 16k and $5 in fees
    Southwest and AA are in the same terminal, so hopefully it will be an easy connection
