is this camera as good as the triple lens Samsung and iPhone phone cameras? can it takeover for dummies like the phones can?

If you’re planning on buying this just to leave it in Auto, I probably wouldn’t bother. It’ll get you clearer pictures a bit further away, but nothing dramatic. This camera would be good for street/general photography and – to an extent – portrait shots, but you’d probably want to play around with Aperture Priority mode (Av) and a little of the nitty gritty stuff like ISO.

The awesome guy

I need to buy a protection plan for this, I contacted the seller but they don’t sell any accidental plans, can anyone help me with a recommendation where I can but a protection plan?

Been away from DSLR game since the 90s. We upgraded from an early Canon AF 35mm film camera don’t remember the model.

Spending almost 3 weeks in SA this Dec, week in Cape Town, another in grasslands for Safari and the rest in Jozie in Melrose Arch area.

How does this Camera compare with this warehouse club combo deal Canon EOS Rebel SL2 with 3 lens Combo Inc a 75-300mm , 18-55, and 50mm for $589

Will the 300mm be enough for Safari shots?

Planning on buying camera with CC with purchase protection against theft, damage or loss.

The 75-300mm III lens doesn’t really have great photo quality or fast autofocus speed, and the aperture is fairly dark so you’d probably have to crank ISO up a bit on cloudy days or around dusk/dawn. It also doesn’t have image stabilization, so you’ll need a fast shutter on the 300mm end to avoid blur (something like 1/500s or higher) which would push your ISO even higher.

I would recommend either the 55-250mm IS STM lens (~$125 on the eBay), which loses some telephoto range for faster focus, image stabilization, and better image quality; or trying to rent a telephoto lens from a photography store locally for your 3 week trip.

I have this camera. its not as good as professional, though its very good.

Is this for a refurbished unit or brand new? I know the Mark III just came out but all other retailers still have this unit at $649. There’s one for $492 on Ted’s but refurbished. This seems too good to be true.
