are these any better than the hundreds of other peelers on the market?

These are far superior than others, in my experience.

Joe

Have these and they rust on the metal part

They rust in the dishwasher

Loren Pechtel

Love these. They’re a bit awkward to use but the big gap between the blade and the handle means far fewer issues with peelings getting caught up in the peeler. The blade is also way superior to an ordinary peeler–but note that this comes with the issue of rust. Steel that will hold a good edge but won’t rust didn’t used to exist at all and now exists but it quite expensive.
