Can you use it with cheap generic Ink?

Ted

Doesn’t come with ink.

The price of the printer doesn’t really matter unfortunately. Anyone know the price of generic ink (and if it works at all?)

My wife got a new job where she is mostly based at home. We had a very old laser printer that was USB only hooked up to my PC. She wanted a scanner as well as wireless printing. I saw this deal come up in October and I jumped on it. It’s a printer basically for the price of ink ($79 and it’s currently even cheaper at $69!) so I couldn’t pass it up.
The Canon app works great to let you print from your phone. It’s fully wireless so the printer can sit anywhere.
It comes with a black and color cartridge, but they are low volume cartridges. I checked clickinks dot com and they show replacement black and color XL cartridges as $30 each.
Personally, I would only go laser printer because I rarely print, and when I do I don’t want to deal with dried up cartridges. But this deal may be better for someone who prints lots of highlighted spreadsheets and needs color like my wife. So, I am thinking this will turn out to be a good purchase.

I had one but the high cost of ink is highway robbery. In the end I gave up and got a Brother Laser printer that’s been cheaper and reliable. My two cents.

Still available from B&H

I don’t get it. People are still buying ink cartridges from Canon?
I bought a refill kit (BCH brand) for like 10 to $15 from Amazon a year ago. It comes with five big bottles of ink and everything you need to do the refills. It takes me under 3 minutes to refill my cartridge. It would probably take me longer than that just to order new cartridges.
Now each refilled cartridge probably costs me like $0.50 or probably less. I don’t see any difference in print quality either.
