Note that while there is no fee, becoming an additional user on a consumer card will add to your 5/24 count. However, if you are denied a new Chase card due to 5/24 because of additional user cards, you can call Chase reconsideration and explain that you aren’t responsible for payments on the account. They can then manually disregard the card from your 5/24 count to approve you for a new card.
