Update, 11/1: Transfers to British Airways Avios are available once again.

Update, 10/5: Transfers between your own accounts is once again available online and transfers to other members are once again available over the phone. Transfers to British Airways remain down for maintenance.

Originally posted on 9/22:

Currently, it’s not possible to:

  • Transfer Capital One miles between your own accounts.
  • Transfer Capital One miles or cashback to other people’s accounts.
  • Convert Capital One cashback into miles.
  • Transfer Capital One miles into British Airways Avios.

I reached out to Capital One to check on what was going on and a spokesperson responded, “Confirming that British Airways and the Share Rewards option are temporarily unavailable for miles transfers, due to maintenance. We are hoping to restore availability as quickly as possible, in the meantime, cardholders still have the ability to transfer miles with our 15 miles transfer partners.”

So there you have it. No policy changes, but the options are temporarily unavailable. If you notice that they are available again, be sure to leave a comment!

Wonder if maintenance will include putting up the transfer between accounts option online? Wish…

AllenM

being told they are phasing this out. now on a call with supervisor Erica who can’t do it either. confirming change of policy.

AllenM

now Erica is stating the ability to transfer reward miles between accounts is unavailable for 7-10 days due to maintenance.

Jaz

Just reached out, they have all those features down for improvements they are doing. No estimation time of completion.

Got a Venture X recently with the idea that I would also get a Savor One in 6 months and use the two as a pair, making most of my purchases (restos and groceries) on the higher earning Savor One and then transferring the cash rewards to Venture miles. However, if Capital One is now going to disallow those regular, ongoing transfers then the whole pairing plan, along with the Venture X annual fee, obviously no longer makes any sense. I tried to resist the higher priced Chase ecosystem, but this protracted “outage” may be the best advertising Chase could’ve ever hoped for from its competition.
