Generally speaking, you need to use Singapore miles to book business or first class awards on Singapore’s premium planes.

When Singapore first launched suites you couldn’t use saver miles for them, but when they started releasing suites for saver awards in December 2012 I redeemed Singapore miles and hopped on a plane with Mimi to fly to Paris on Singapore’s JFK to Frankfurt A380 flight:

The 2nd generation of Singapore’s suites look even more amazing:

Currently you can use United miles or miles from other Star Alliance airlines to fly between Singapore and Auckland, New Zealand on the A380 Singapore suites. The cost with United miles is just 65K miles each way.  You would need 80K Singapore miles to book the same flight.

There is currently availability from Singapore to Auckland in Singapore suites on:

March 7, 20
October 29, 30, 31
November 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26
December 1

There is currently availability from Auckland to Singapore in Singapore suites on:

February 5
October 28, 29, 30, 31
November 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, 27, 28
December 1

You can fly between Oceania and New Zealand for just 60K United miles each way and you can route via this flight as well.

For example you can fly from Guam to Auckland for 60K miles. (Read more about Guam in part 2 of my United Island Hopper trip notes)

Or from Auckland to Palau for 60K miles.  (Read more about Palau in part 3 of my United Island Hopper trip notes)

Post a comment if you find availability on other routes!

Have you flown on Singapore suites?

I’ve been checking the JFK FRA route for about 1 year. Saver Award never opened up for suites. Once, in the middle of the night it was available for about 10 seconds, by the time I clicked on it and filled out the info it was “unavailable”.

Has any one ever had success with “waitlist”

moti

What’s the best way to book the Singapore suites from Europe to Singapore?

My wife and I flew singapore suites from Singapore to NY with a stop to refuel in Frankfurt. From the VIP desk check in to the Private Room, the whole experience was unforgettable.
Only issue was the repetitive kosher meals throughout the flight.

The queen size bed was great too!
The other 5 suites were empty so they accomodated it for my “prayer” room to daven shachrit.

Used United miles transferred to singapore and booked saver. Was on a waitlist for 1 of the two and it came thru.
