Update, 4/18: If you want Universal Studios Hollywood or Orlando VIP experiences or vacations, 4 packages will be available at 1pm.

Update, 4/15: This goes live at 1pm daily from today through 5/1. There’s no need to wait for today’s sale, you can get the same deal directly from Hilton here.

Daily Getaways is coming back starting next week, but is it worth buying anything?

  • On 4/15 you can buy Hilton points for 0.5 cents each. That could potentially be worthwhile, but Hilton runs this sale themselves several times per year including right now, so there’s no need to lock in now. Plus you can always transfer points from AMEX to Hilton at a 1:2 or better ratio.
  • On 4/16 you can buy IHG points for 0.5 cents each. That could potentially be worthwhile, except that IHG has the same offer directly fairly often, so there’s not much of a reason to lock that in unless you have immediate travel plans.
  • On 4/17 you can buy hotel, dining, spa, and show packages from MGM Las Vegas for $750-$2,250, but only 3-8 of each package will be available.
  • On 4/18 you can buy discounted Universal Hollywood or Orlando tickets, but there are just 86 Hollywood ticket packages, 40 Orlando ticket packages, 4 vacation packages, and 4 VIP packages available.
  • On 4/19 you can buy SeaWorld tickets and more for 40% off. That could be a decent deal if you plan on visiting this summer, though their Black Friday sale offers better pricing.
  • On 4/22 you can buy hotel, dining, spa, and show packages from Bellagio, Aria, Excalibur, or Park MGM, but only 2-8 of each package will be available.
  • On 4/23 you can buy Marriott gift cards for 20% off. This is probably the best deal of the bunch, but we’ve also posted Marriott directly sell their gift cards for 10-20% off in the past. Alas, this deal coincides with the 1st day of Pesach, so it won’t be available for observant Jews.
  • On 4/24 you can buy Best Western points for 0.55 cents each if that’s your thing. Alas, this deal coincides with the 2nd day of Pesach, so it won’t be available for observant Jews outside of Israel.
  • On 4/25 you can buy 3 nights in a Venetian or Palazzo suite, but the price on these has gone up significantly from previous Daily Getaways, now at $1,200-$1,300 for 3 nights. There’s also only 15 of each package available. Note that you can do significantly better with the Black Friday sale.
  • On 4/26 Caesars vacation packages in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and Reno will be for sale, but just 10-12 of each package will be available.
  • On 4/29 you can buy Choice Privileges Points for 0.52-0.6 cents each. That’s a decent price if you need them, but it’s worth noting you can always transfer points from Citi to Choice at a 1:2 ratio if you don’t want to lock in on buying points now. Alas, this deal coincides with the 7th day of Pesach, so it won’t be available for observant Jews.
  • On 4/30 you can buy Hyatt points for 1.2-1.32 cents each. That’s a great deal, but there are just 24 total packages for sale across 3 sales. You can always transfer points from Chase to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio. Alas, this deal coincides with the 8th day of Pesach, so it won’t be available for observant Jews outside of Israel.
  • On 5/1 you can buy Wyndham points for 1.17 cents each. Wyndham often sells points for less than this directly, so that’s not a deal. And you can always transfer points from Citi or Capital One to Wyndham at a 1:1 ratio. Plus, Wyndham has steadily devalued their Vacasa home rental awards, making their points much less attractive.

This year’s sale is even more sparse than last year’s with the loss of Fairmont and Omni. Companies like Alamo, Avis, and Hertz have been missing from Daily Getaways since before COVID. The timing of the sale with Pesach means the 2 deals I might be interested in trying for, Marriott and Hyatt, are off the table, so I don’t see myself trying for anything this year.

I miss the days when they had enough packages for sale to have a fighting shot at them instead of it becoming a sweepstakes…

If you do want anything, you’ll need to be waiting on the sale page at 12:59pm ET, keep refreshing the page, and be ready to click buy now when it appears.

Will you try to get any Daily Getaways this year?

Why would you be interested to pay for Hyatt over a cent a point when you have so many chase points?

Joel

Hyatt at 1.2 is nice but won’t be possible.

IS

What do you mean with “ with the loss of Fairmont and Omni”?

I still have $450 of Alamo Car rental spread over 9 $50 gift cards from years ago.. wish I could get a refund

Yochai

If you know anyone in Israel, they can get the Yom Tov deals after YT by them.

Sruly

Just bought Wyndham directly for less than 1c per point.

Tuli

Can you set up a bot to buy them for you?

Re Day 2 and 8 of Pesach – Observant Israeli Jews have chol hamoed/isru chag those days, so they could buy them. Just not frum chutznikis. Granted that’s probably the majority of followers, but still not “all”.

CL

Where do you purchase the discounted marriot gift cards?
