As winds from the north bring smoke filled air from Canada into the US, airports in NYC are throttling down operations due to the poor visibility.
The FAA’s system status shows 82 minute average ground delays for takeoffs to Newark, with it expected to climb to 107 minutes.
LaGuardia had a full ground stop before and is now averaging 119 ground delays, with that expected to rise to 149 minutes.
Philadelphia is also subject to a ground delay program due to low visibility from the smoke.
If you are traveling, be sure to keep a close eye on your flight and your inbound flight times.
Hopefully the wildfires are brought under control and the prevailing winds change directions soon.

My flight out of EWR was delayed 65mn
Just landed in JFK no problems at all
Flight from GSO to EWR delayed one hour. The further north we flew the more orange the sky became and started to smell the smoke about 30 minutes into the flight. Hope I can fly to BOS; if not, might rent a car.

I have a 9Am flight from LGA to MDW tomorrow morning. Right now it’s showing that it’s on time, but many of those flights from LGA to MDW are delayed today.
I’m flying LAX-EWR tonight 11. Still shows on time departure.

We Love Canada
I landed downtown Toronto last evening from EWR to clear skies and my Uber told me the fires are highly suspicious after all the rain up here last 2 weeks and satellite pictures show the fires all started simultaneously.
Which state is Canada in?
Booked JFK-MXP Emirates flights for clients positioning from Chicago and all the departing flights to NY were cancelled / delayed and one had to stay behind getting bags 🙁
