I am currently sharing this news while staying at the fantastic Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem. I booked a 5 night stay with 380,000 Hilton points.
Hilton refreshed their consumer cards back in October and now they are updating the Hilton Honors American Express Business Card.
Upgrades:
- Through 6/5, you can open this card and earn 175,000 welcome bonus points for spending $8,000 in 3 months.
- You can now earn a $60 statement credit at Hilton hotels every quarter, for up to $240 per calendar year.
- As of 7/1/24, you will earn 5 points per dollar on all non-Hilton spend, up to $100K in spending per calendar year. After that, earnings drop to 3 points per dollar.
- Cardholders now get National Executive status.
Downgrades:
- The annual fee will more than double, going from $95 to $195.
- The ability to earn a free night for spending $15K and $60K annually will end on 6/30. You won’t be able to earn those free nights after that date.
- If you enrolled in the Priority Pass Select program with 10 annual free visits on or before 6/30/23, your Priority Pass membership will continue through 6/30/24 and will be cancelled as of 7/1/24. If you enrolled in the Priority Pass Select program between 7/1/23 and 6/30/24, your membership will continue through 3/31/25 and will be cancelled as of 4/1/25. Any unused lounge visits will be forfeited at the time of cancellation. You can still enroll through 6/30/24.
- After 6/30/24, you will no longer earn 6 points per dollar at US gas stations, US restaurants, flights, car rentals, shipping providers, and wireless phone services.
At first glance, this one stings. The annual fee goes up significantly and the card loses the ability to earn bonus free nights and Priority Pass visits. But people seem to love the AMEX coupon book discounts, and if maximized, the Hilton credits will more than negate the higher annual fee and you can earn more points per dollar at more places.

Terrible. I don’t travel 4x year (in separate quarters)to use the coupon and loved hitting the 15k sweet spot for a free night. I have national executive and priority pass from business platinum anyways so that irrelevant.

Coupon book is just a mocking term used to describe credits like this $60 one.
If you don’t know, a company used to sell a thick book full of paper coupons mostly relayed to travel, entertainment and local businesses. I think the company sells it in digital form now. You needed to use enough of these coupons to break even on the $25 cost of the book.
Was waiting for this post. The whole point of this card for me was the FNC. I knew something was up when they stopped showing how much the yearly spend for the year was. It is annoying trying to figure how much I have already spent this year.

Dan, thanks for your analysis…IMO, the expensive $195 annual fee card is now practically worthless without the free night…I only paid the $95 to use the card for 15k and get the free night…why would anyone keep this card without the free night?
Only held this one for the free nights. Time to let it go..
