There is a Chabad in Cusco which is amazing. Food is great, both dairy and meat kitchens and a bakery. great place to visit.

moshe

@Yehuda S:

Why? Is it har habayit

Yehuda S

@moshe: it is the remains of pagan temples which religious Jews may not be allowed to visit. Too bad because I would love to go. Maybe it’s not an issue. If you get a psak please share it.

Dan

@Yehuda S:
Plenty of arguments over what exactly Machu Picchu was.
Ask, but know the facts first.

Ike

Dan, have you been? Worth going for 3 days? Or need more time?

Dan

@Ike:
I have not. On the bucket list though.

We were about to enter credit card info… and then had the seichel to call the pediatrician and he said that the altitude is too high for our babies! Also could be problematic for pregnant women. Bear this in mind before booking.

I went to Peru (Miraflores, Lima) a couple of years ago with a group. I loved it !!

I had to leaved before my group continued to Machu Piiccu. Many had a great time, but 2 of the guys got ill from altitude sickness.

Sorry to burst any bubbles (I still want to go there). Just a FYI !!

JK

I did the 4-day Inca Trail hike and went to Machu Piccu just last year. Chabad is great. Altitude can be an issue, you should definitely leave at least 1 day to acclimatize before doing anything strenuous. I also purchased altitude-sickness pills which worked great and I had no serious difficulties (if you are out of shape, however, it is more difficult to breathe there).

I am a 40-year old male in good health but not an athlete or anything like that.

I’ve been there as part of a 2 weeks trip with the kids.
I’d like to recommend an Israeli guy who owns an agency in Cusco. We had booked everything with him and were really happy.
