Currently the cheapest available nonstop from NYC to Tel Aviv is $1,157 round-trip with tax and the cheapest nonstop from Los Angeles to Tel Aviv is $1,227 with tax.

-For bookings made between 12/02-12/06 the price will drop to $949 from NYC and $1,099 from LAX. Those prices are round-trip, with tax.
-The tickets will first be available on El Al (from JFK or Newark) sometime on Sunday and then will almost certainly be matched by Delta (from JFK) and United (From Newark).
-At this point it seems like the El Al fare will not earn any miles if credited to American, but I will check on that when the fare becomes bookable. So basically fly El Al to support Israel’s national airline and if you don’t care about earning miles, fly Delta if you like old planes and pathetic miles but want to fly from JFK, or fly United if you like newer planes, awesome miles, and are willing to fly from Newark.
-Travel will be valid between 01/13-03/10.

-The fares will be bookable on Orbitz, which offers regular mileage earning, price assurance refunds and more importantly free cancellations until 11pm ET the day after you book. (I.E. Book at 1:00am and have 46 hours to cancel for free).

-I’ll post an update when this becomes bookable.

Don’t forget to use the best credit card for airfare:
-Earn over 5 points per dollar with Chase Freedom (up to $1,500 per quarter with registration), or 3 points per dollar with American Express® Premier Rewards Gold Card, or 3 points per dollar with The Business Gold Rewards Card® from American Express OPEN, or 2.14 points per dollar with Chase Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card® Card.

dan –
any idea re sale fares originating in toronto to israel?
thanks…..

Yisroel

Any idea is US will match it from PHL, they are the best to TLV.

fradl

when you say ‘the fares are credited to American’, I am a little confused: How do I book this through American and can I used American gift cards that I have to book this? Thank you for everything. I have learned and benefited so much from your website.

Anonymous

@fradl:
You cannot book it on AMerican with Gift cards. Most Elal flights are codeshare with AA and thus you get American Advantage miles for flying on Elal. Dan was referring to this sale, not eligible to receive Advantage miles

fradl

@Anonymous:

thank you for clearing that up for me. so you are saying you can receive elal matmid points but not aa miles, is that true?

Kevin

Hi Dan, This is great, thanks for the info. When do you think there will be deals for May travel? Usually they have similar pricing, do you think that will be coming soon?

levik

Hi from Israel – Are there EVER any deals with business fares to Israel or just coach fares?

delta

they say that delta has new plane already and united service is not like continental use to be

Anonymous

@moshe: It’s valid as well as advertised in the Isrtaeli papers.

Anonymous

Delta and united already show the prices before elal put it out. They must of read it here 😉

nancy

Delta offers Economy Comfort seats which are amazingly comfortable. They give good mileage with their AMEX card and the planes are not old. Great service too! I don’t even charge so much and flew to EY many times om Miles!

Dan

@nancy:
United offers comparable Economy Plus on their flights.

Delta flies 747s from JFK-TLV which are an average of 20 years old. United flies 777 from EWR-TLV, all of which are much newer than Delta’s 747, and some of which are brand spanking new.

In general Delta’s fleet is very old. And their miles are called SkyPesos for good reason.

Just booked

Flights are already working at this price on Orbitz! Just booked!

Aaron

“fly Delta if you like old planes”.

This is no longer true. Although they used to fly planes from the 1970’s, they are now flying all updated planes. These planes have personal TV screens with video on demand and all seats in business class are now horizontal flat beds.
