Dan, I managed to get an alternate color for the same $131, before taxes. I called Amazon and simply asked why the difference in price. The rep was kind enough to honor the ($131) price of the silver model, that I spoke of, with the other colors. Got the red model for for $142.57. total with tax.

@Rachel: I was on “chat” with them for an hour because the cart didn’t ring up the free sd card (or case) and in the end I cancelled the order because they were charging me $156 for all three items. I then emailed Amazon and told them I should be compensated for my time- they gave me a $30 credit on my account. Now I ordered the camera for $99 + a free card !(minus the case.)

I placed the order tonight without the case and then just used their Online Chat help and she added the case to me for free!! It took literally 30 seconds via chat. Didn’t have to bother with cancelling and replacing the order. I just wrote the following:

Does anyone know if this is really a good camera? I had a Panasonic lumix for the last 7 yrs and was very happy. I’d rathe spend a few more dollar now then need a new camera soon. I was considering the lumix DMC FH8. It is another 30 more than this one and is consumer reports best buy as opposed the the elph’s recommended buy. Is that better or worse?

Got it. They charged me all the way through to final checkout, as you said, and the total at the end was 99.99+tax, so the case and card are free.
They’re backordering them now; no ETA date yet.

Their price match policy is only for 7 days “officially”. In their terms it says they only have a match policy for tv’s.
