Rent An RV For Free One-Way From Vancouver To Toronto Or Montreal And Get $500 In Free Gas!

Offer Linky

Cruise Canada needs some RVs brought from Vancouver to Toronto and Montreal so they’ll let you drive one for free for up to 21 days. The RV needs to be brought to Montreal or Toronto by 11/27.

They will reimburse your gas receipts for up to $500 as well. You are allowed to drive in the US and Canada.

6,000 kilometers (3,728 miles) are included for free. Google maps shows that it’s 4,188 kilometers from Vancouver to Toronto and 4,535 from Vancouver to Montreal. It’s more than enough miles to hit up the Grand Canyon (as well as my hometown of Cleveland along the way to share a beer with me for anyone crazy enough to do this) should you so desire :D

You can use your AA miles or BA Avios to fly on Cathay Pacific’s great business or first class one-way from JFK to Vancouver and then use 4,500 Avios to fly from Toronto or Montreal back to NYC.

Did a similar thing in Australia, from Melbourne to Sydney (900km) a few years ago. Spent 3 days in a brand new RV, with enough gas included to travel via the coast.

According to Mapquest on a regular car the fuel cost would be between 360-420. I assume that for a RV its probably closer to 700-800, I think its still worth it though…..

    4500km=2800mi
    RV gets 9mpg on average
    2800/9=310
    so you use 310 gallons
at $4 per gallon your looking at spending about $1250

Numbers may be off a bit (i did the math in my head)

gas tank on a large RV is about 80 gallons at $4 a gallon its $320 to fill each time.

@chaim: Just want to point out that the cost of a “tank of gas” is completely irrelevant to the cost of the trip. The question is cost per mile. I hate it when people ask me how much it cost me to fill my Ford Expedition. The fact that it cost me approximately $.70 to drive a mile is what people should focus on.

The size of the RV seems to matter most and they have different sizes.
Dr. Google says between 6-15 mpg based on the size.
Based on 2,600 miles that’s between 173-433 gallons.
USA average price per gallon today is $3.66, so that means anywhere between $633-$1,584.

on a brand new 2012 RV which i just rented you can do about 8 MPG (which is horrible), and filling up cost over $200 each time. plus they will charge you for using the generator (for heat or A/C) which is required unless your plugged in somehow to electricity without paying for a camping sight

    How big was your RV?
8mpg would be 325 gallons or $1,189 of gas.

I got an email from them. You can’t pick up or return the RV on a Sunday, so for those who are Shomer Shabbos, it is an issue if you want to do this trip in a week. Basically, you would have to pick it up on Monday morning and return it by 11:00 am Friday.

I was hoping to do it in a week trip, but seems like it won’t work out.

Pickup is from 1-4 PM. Drop-off from 9-11 AM. Very restrictive, sounds like there are $ penalties for being late. I inquired as well. Still thinking about it…have some concerns about the fuel costs and driving an RV in Canada in November.

    Dan:

You have to return the RV by 11:00 am, so there is no way to return after Shabbos. The charge 25.00 per hour every hour after 11:00. Also, I don’t know how late they are open, but suspect that there wouldn’t be enough time to return it after Shabbos during their business hours.
