SIZZLING! RUN!!! JFK To Tel Aviv For Just $336.80 Round-Trip With Tax!

Update #2, 3:15pm: I think it’s safe to say that this deal is now dead.

So, how many of you booked a ticket like this? Has anyone ever seen such a cheap ticket to Israel for Pesach before? Just $336!

Update: Not working well on Orbitz now, but I just booked a ticket on Expedia! Expedia tickets are cancellable until 11:59pm PDT the day after ticketing!

Bookable on Orbitz (with full mileage earning, free cancellations until 10pm CT the day after you book, and price assurance refunds) or direct from the airline.

Routing is on Swiss from JFK to Zurich and on El Al from Zurich to Tel Aviv.

Valid for outbound travel between 10/28 and 03/19.

    The lady said that there was a glitch, the tickets were published without the normal fuel surcharge, but that they will still be honored at the price paid. I repeat (according to the woman at ElAl taht I spoke to) NO additional fee will be collected at the airport. She said the glitch has been fixed, and any changes made to flights will be charged a fee plus the price difference, which for most people will probably be astronomical.
    But again, there was some kind of glitch that ElAl will be honoring. In her words- “A lot of our cutsomers got very lucky today.”

    @Adam: I find it hard to believe she really knew what she was talking about. The Desk agents usually don’t have that kind of info.

    It will take at lease *some* time for them to calculate their losses. I imagine it is astronomical.

    It is sad and ironic that the Jewish community may have just bankrupted (close to that) the Israeli National Airline.

    Additionally, It strikes me as suspicious how many of these ‘mistake’ fares have been happening recently. It seems like there could be targeted hacking attempts against large corporations, especially those wanting to attack Jewish companies. We know the arabs have been hacking large Israeli firms regularly and often.

    I love how some people are always busy calling the airlines and agents to make sure 100 different things. if you need to do that, these things arent for you, and you only mess up for others. I dont understand what makes people ruin it for the others.

    I think it’s unfair that people are taking advantage of these airlines by booking tickets at prices that might be a mistake. And these are probably all of the same no-good people who tried to take advantage of United a couple of weeks ago.

    From now on, I think I’m going to call the airline before I book any tickets, just to make sure they are completely comfortable with me booking the posted fare ;)
    That way, they’ll have every opportunity to change their minds, and I can sleep soundly knowing that I offered the airline an opportunity to correct their mistake, even though they never cut me any slack if I make a mistake.

    I honestly DON’T see why everyone is in a 2nd hand market frenzy over these cheap tickets. The chances of having the names changed on tickets that were accidentally sold at a huge loss is little to none. There have already been repeated reports that elal will not change these tickets. And why should they? They have absolutely no obligation to and they KNOW exactly what people are up to; buying a large number of cancellable
    tickets and trying to sell and transfer the ones they don’t want

    @dansdeals like your site but you have some of the least informed readership of all deal sites. People calling the airline and orbitz to see if it’s mistake before its dead. People calling to add an infant before its dead. Bad idea, alerts the airline. Just buy an extra seat it’s so cheap. Anyway can you from now on put a disclaimer on your fare mistakes etc that says DO NOT CALL

    Also for everyone else how do you know you can name change to a totally different person? Seems unlikely to me.

    Alright guys, sorry to burst you bubbles but: A)Names on tickets can’t be changed B)In the event that you somehow convince them to change the name, they will make you pay up to the current price of a ticket –as they are reissuing it. Therefore, you don’t end up gaining anything and might as well just book a ticket yourself on elal.com for that price. C)If you didn’t already add your infant, call Elal and tell them that you need to add an infant. They will probably charge you around $125 (10% of current ticket prices). D) I repeat, names on tickets can’t be changed E) Just because a whole bunch of misinformed commenters assumed that you can change the name, rules A and D still apply. F) Probably not a smart idea to post your phone number and email addresses online like that. Spammers just love digging up phone numbers and email addresses to send junk to G) Reread rules A,D & E! YOU CANT CHANGE THE NAMES! I don’t care how much you’re willing to pay, how badly your wife needs a vacation, how many minutes you missed the deal by, or how happy your family in Israel that you haven’t seen in thirty years will be. NAMES CANT BE CHANGED!!

    @ez:
    EZ – you’re a fool if you think that alerting airlines and travel agencies doesn’t get deals like this shut down prematurely.
    I’ve witnessed dozens of mistake fares through FT. Those that fly under the radar last a lot longer than those mistake fares where somebody calls the airline/travel agency and makes them aware of it.
    Golden rule is don’t call until the deal is long gone, so that others have a chance to book it! Be’hatzlacha.

    Any idea if there is a way to change the name by proving I am the same person? I made it under my maiden name, while my passport has my married name ( maybe sending in a marriage certificate??) Any experience or knowledge about what I can do?
    THanks!

    @LWG:

    You SHOULD be able to fly if you bring a copy of your marriage certificate showing the maiden name under which the tickets were purchased, and your married name, which appears on your passport.

    I recall reading about this sort of a situation before, probably on Flyertalk.
