@Yossi:
Did you already spend $10 and receive an email confirming that it qualifies?

Ben

Fine Print: Offer not valid at government agencies, charities, non-profits, trade associations, shopping property management firms, political, religious or educational organizations, and some franchise locations.

jack

Till when can I enroll?

peace

you can sign up with any amex cards and no limit of number of amex cards you can enroll?

M.M.M

Wich type of business the offer is valid Ben???

Crunch

Last time when the promotion was for NY (lower Manhattan) it worked through Adorama. We need to find a similar business in theses three cities!!

Any ideas?

RT

In Chicago, where can I use it?

Dan

Somebody should start a list of small business in those cities that can do mail order. That way people outside on Chicago, Phil, and Boston can participate.

Yossi

Donate link is all the way at bottom. You have to sign up for their Quick Pay service which is as simple as filling out any other credit card form online

@Dan: I filled out the form for $10 but haven’t received responsse yet. I will let you know.

You’ve successfully registered your Card ending in

Remember to Shop Small® June 21st – July 4th to get your one-time $10 statement credit when you spend $10 or more with your registered Card at a small business in Philadelphia.

Linda

Can I use this in Tein Li Chow in Chicago?

Yossi

Dan, do you know how long it takes to get a confirmation email from American Express? Has anybody gotten one yet?

Angelina

Can you register for all 3 on Twitter and also on foursquare to double dip? My Amex are already synced with both Twitter/4square from previous promos, so I don’t have to enroll again using the links above, right?

sam

passing though PHL airport, are all stores there chains or franchise?

Yossi

@Ben: Hmmm. that is interesting because when I click the link to find qualifying businesses it brings me to the Small Business Saturday Facebook page. So it would seem that any “business” that qualified for that should qualify for this and non-profits worked then. So the question is, did they have this same fine print then or did they just add it?

RelatedToMendy

@Linda: Tein Li Chow is not in Chicago, it is in Evanston.

Dan

@Yossi:
They may have added that fine print for this promo.

@RelatedToMendy:
Metro areas should work.

Chris

Received all confirmations for my SPG card but not my Platinum which I registered before. Hmm.

APoshiterYid

@Chris: Hmm indeed. I just did all 3 links on my Platinum and Gold within the last few minutes and got all 6 already in order (3 Plat, then 3 Gold).

jrose

@Yossi: you get it immediatly check your spam

RT

@ RelatedToMendy So Skokie wouldn’t work? It must be in Chicago proper?

rn

can you use it online??

Linda

I think it is Metro areas too.
Just used it in Evanston and I’m pretty sure i’ll get the refund

Dan

@Linda:
Did you get an email?

Zcn

Does each AU get a $10 credit, or is it per account?

the hat box has a branch in chicago.

gift card will work

i got the email x3

dsa

does this work for prepaid cards?

Me

When you register, there is a link for eligible businesses, and it looks like places in Skokie, Evanston etc are eligible (I saw Hungarian Kosher Foods on the list)

Anonymous

@Me:

Did anybody try out kosherwine.com

Its Hungarian kosher food online wine shop…?

Chris

Thanks for the Lou Malnati/TastsofChicago.com suggestion. Any ideas for Philly and Boston that we can do online?

dovidb

@dsa: no

Mayer

@lu: Is this place kosher?

milechazzer

This might be an option in Chicago:

http://www.deliatyourdoor.com/

Dan1

http://www.wayfair.com is located in Boston and you can buy 10 dollar giftcards!

Rosenfeld

Guys. Let’s stop thinking with our stomach. Are there any small business electronic stores in these locations?

s c

@Dan1:
Did it work??

Crunch

C’mon people! We need websites for each of the three cities.

Any ideas? Any confirmations for wayfair.com??

Sales

Websites are not such a great option because you can’t use separate cards to pay. We need stores that will accept payment via multiple cards over the phone. ( unless you are ordering something for just above $10)

Crunch

I tried http://www.wayfair.com but have not received any email from AMEX that I will get the credit (it’s been 1 hour)…

Can anyone confirm that it worked for them?

dovidb

@milechazzer: This might be an option in Chicago:
http://www.deliatyourdoor.com/ i sent them an email asking iff they will except multiple cards ill post back when i hear from them

Crunch

@dovidb:

What’s their kashrus like??

Quickroute

wayfair did not work for me 🙁

frank

Got the chicago credits back from tastesofchicago.com.

Any ideas for boston and philly?

I was thinking maybe a coffee beans from local coffee shops? Any other ideas?

bigAl

As one who works in Philly, choices are very poor (forget about kosher dining, it’s almost non-existant).

dovidb

I tried calling Amex to ask why the $10 I spent in Boston didn’t work. They hocked me forever about what the name of the promotion is. I gave them the link (enroll.amex…) but the lady said she couldn’t access it for some reason. I read her the terms and all she was able to find was the old Small Business Saturday and she seemed to have no idea what I was talking about with this particular promotion. Is there an “official name” or promotion code I can give them?

Angelina

Taste of Chicago worked for me!

karen

I tried in two small business that works for old Small Business Saturday in Boston, none of those two works. I have no idea why. Two business are both in the list provided after registration.

Idea

I don’t intend on buying anything in these cities, and I am sure that many other people don’t either. It would be nice to use this for charities. Now, this offer is not directly eligible through the charity, but here is an idea.
1. I am sure that charities in the above-mentioned cities would appreciate some store credit in the local Kosher grocery store, or any other small business they constantly do business with.
2. People interested in donating would provide their credit card details to the charity.
3. The charity would collect this info and pass it on (in bulk) to the store/small business.
4. The store/small business would charge each card $10, and provides the charity with a credit for that amount. [I guess the store/small business could even take a small cut for the hassle.]
I don’t know of anyone in any of these cities. But if you do, you might be interested in contacting them – it could bring in a decent sum of money if done right.

Yitz

Does anyone know if Brookline Massachusetts (where the community stores are located) is considered part of the “Metro Boston” area?

RT

I didnt get an email from Amex after spending $10, but the next day I saw a statement credit for $10! YAY! Looking forward to spending on my other 2 cards. Thanks Dan!

Crunch

Hey RT, which store did you spend in?

Matt

https://www.thespicehouse.com/ works for Chicago. I got the notification email.

Crunch

@Matt:

Did you buy a gift card or an actual product (like spices)?

Matt

I bought actual spices.

Matt

I also found a store that’s participating in Philly that sells online:
https://omoionline.com

I can’t get the shopping cart to work though.

Crunch

@Matt:

You are right. Their website (checkout process) is messed up!

Matt

They just took my order over the phone.

I also just got the email that it worked:
Congratulations! By using your synced American Express® Card ending in xxxxx, you
saved $10.00 on your purchase at OMOI INC. Expect a statement credit in 3-5 days.

J

http://www.fantes.com works for Philadelphia. I ordered a $10 gift certificate (snail mail only) and got Amex’s confirmation email.

Note: There is $5.95 shipping charge on gift certificates that is actually waived. Your credit card will not be charged immediately. It is manually entered by someone in the store later and that is when the shipping fee is taken off. I think that this site works because these cards are manually entered at the physical store.

milechazzer

Does anyone know if this will work (for Boston):
http://www.israelbookshop.com/judaica-gifts/Gift_Certificates.html

milechazzer

How about abt.com in Glenview, IL? Great place for electronics

@milechazzer:

Please confirm which of the websites you listed actually worked for you.

Thanks!!

J

Central Camera works. There will be a delay because the card is not swiped when you submit your order.

Jury is still out on hipster home, but it looks dubioius. Card was swiped, but no e-mail from Amex. However, the authorization isn’t coded as being online.

Yitz

Uh-oh! I just saw another site saying that this promo is for “Chicago, Boston, and Philadelphia Residents Only.”

See here > http://pointrichcashpoor.com/2012/06/27/jump-on-the-amex-shop-small-bandwagon-to-get-10-free-chicago-boston-and-philadelphia-residents-only/ <

I am confused now because I read the fine print and didn't see any resident-only limitations on this deal..

Dan – can we get some confirmation on this quick. I just used my Amex in the Boston metro area, but I live in NJ. I can't afford the loss..

abee

Just worked it out with guy of the hat box and finally convinced him to work out the $10 spend in chicago to be able to use the gift certificate in all their stores- he is now accepting phone calls to swipe $10 per card – he said to allow 2-3 weeks to receive the gift certificates
The phone # in the hat box chicago is 773-564-9493
I am trying to have him to send a form that can be filled out and sent via fax or email with the info will post as soon as I have the info

Anonymous

@abee: if you want to send fax with name,cc info + 4-digit exp. and 4 digit code,mailing address and e-mail address and phone number for hat box chicago 773-681-0429 you can but only those with all the info will be put through for the $10

Scoobee

@milechazzer:

Anyone can please confirm if GC from abt.com works for credit back?

Crunch

@Anonymous:

Um… The Hat Box does not seem to be found on AMEX’s list of merchants here: http://shopsmallnow.com/ I put in 60645 for the zip and this store is not there…

Yossi

J

Instant $10 e-cert, instant Amex response, can stack multiple certs when ordering.

In Boston:

http://Www.capeclogs.com

Same story, instant $10 e-cert, instant Amex response, can stack certs when ordering online.

Crunch

@J:

What in the world are you going to buy at those sites? Really weird stuff…

Kevin

I already bought Taste of Chicago for my Chicago $10. It worked. Can someone confirm that I can also participate in Boston and Philly for a total of $30 per card? Thanks

sky121

do the card numbers have to match the main name written?

Dan

http://www.abt.com worked for me!

aiyow

I registered for the chicago area. Got an confirmation for registeration. Not email conf when made the purchase. But did get an credit in the account for WILDBERRY PANCAKES – SCHAUMBURG.

NLG

Can you buy giftcards at abt.com?

RR

i heard that there is another deal- if you buy a $50 prepaid amex card youll get a $10 one too. do you know if i can do this deal if i already did the one for $200 and get $25 card?

sara

So when does the credit show up? And to confirm there is no confirmation email after spending the $10?

1GenuineGuy

This may have been answered before, but one register all there cards for the hat box locations in Boston, Chicago, and Philadelphia or is it just one location?

chazu

can i use my prepaid amex card?

Scoobee

@Dan: Dan did you buy GC?? Was this for Bostob deal??

allen

it seem you giftcard purchase must be more than $25 at abt.com ?

also are giftcards stackable at abt.com? thanks.

Schmidt

Does this have anything to do with Facebook or Twitter or the like?

sara

@allen:
I called up and they did it over the phone. One GF and they just charged each card sep.

David R

@1GenuineGuy: Of the three metro areas that this promotion is in, Hat Box is in Chicago, not in Boston or Philadelphia. http://www.hatboxmenswear.com/system/scripts/modules/admin/pages/show_page.cgi?p=Locations

I am surprised that Hat Box is not excluded from the promotion on account of the first bullet point in the post: “Small businesses are non-chain stores.” I think the explanation is that the different locations are actually different corporations.

abe

Do Macys and Citi amex work?

David R

@abe:

From the Registration Terms and Conditions:
Subject to the eligibility requirements set forth in the Offer Terms, an “Eligible Card” is a valid American Express Consumer Card or Business Card from American Express OPEN issued in the U.S. by AXP or by a licensed third party bank issuer of AXP-branded Cards (“Licensed Issuers”).

Lynda

I have just spoken with Fantes – an absolutely great store for cooking enthusiasts by the way – (Chicago area) and this promotion will not work online through them. A couple of orders slipped by them, but no more. They say it is part of the terms of the AmEx promotion that it is to encourage local business and no online orders are supposed to be honored.
A problem for me, since I had spent some time entering all my cards for these cities (where I do not live) and figuring out where to buy gift certs.
Comments?

Lynda

Oops, sorry, Fantes is Philly, not Chicago.

Crunch

Can anyone confirm that Hipsterhome worked for them in Philly??

Thanks!

Schmidt

Does this have anything to do with Facebook or Twitter?

Menachem

Any options for philly?

mordy

Does it have to be processed before the 4th or does tomorrow count as well?

Tom

@sara:

I called abt this morning and they said it wasn’t possible to charge multiple cards into one single gift card.

abee

@mordy: Tomorrow is good as well

sam

will hatbox be processing the form if faxed in tomorrow?

Dan

@chazu:
No.

@abe:
Citi should work.

@mordy:
The 4th is fine.

@sam:
Call ’em up and let others know. They’ve already charged all of my cards!

dw

Dan, did you see this?
$20 off $20 for AMEX purchases in Provincetown, MA!
https://sync.americanexpress.com/twitter/offerterms/F121770002

Lynda

@Tom: Tom, I did it this morning. Their live chat people told me the same, but then suggested I call the sales line to the store. They were very nice about doing this for me just as they did for Sara – combined several charges into one larger gift card.

sara

@Tom: They made me call the store. Not the site.

AJ

My Link isn’t working, What is the address?

Tom

@Lynda:

Ah, that makes sense. I was only dealing with the website. I wish the person I got had suggested the same to me. I don’t think I need so many spices!

Yitz

The Hatbox Chicago isn’t answering the phone anymore? Are they upset for some reason?

gezeilah is not kosher

Zvi

I got a credit for $10 on each of my accounts it does not look like an Amex credit rather it looks like a refund from them .

Anonymous

@Zvi: Same thing here. IS that what the credit appears as? I will call tomorrow to see whether I am getting the gift cards…

Dan

@Zvi:
That is how it shows up, no worries.

WhyEye

@Dan:
Has anyone already received the abt credits? Israel Book Shop worked for me and so did the Philly charges I did at a mall kiosk(I happened to be in Philly). It’s been a week already…

hello

i did not get a credit for one purchase on my bofa issued amex, who do i contact? Bofa says they have nothing to do with it

Yitz

Sorry. That was a mis-post which was meant for the $25 gift card deal.

But, yeah.. I got the $10 credit for all 3 cities [IBS @ Boston, Rosenbergs Hebrew @ Phila., Hatbox @ Chicago] within 3 days of the transaction.

Amex is the BEST!!
