The New Ink Bold Card With Ultimate Rewards Linky

Chase has just refreshed the Ink Bold card.

Signup Bonus:
-Get 50,000 bonus points after you spend $5,000 in 3 months, that’s $500 in rewards of your choice, or $625 towards airfare when you redeem online through our Ultimate Rewards booking tool.
Better yet you can transfer the points instantly with no fees to anyone’s Continental (Star Alliance), British Airways (OneWorld), Korean (Skyteam), United (Star Alliance), Hyatt, Priority Club, Marriott, or Amtrak account at a 1:1 ratio where they will be worth much more than redeeming for travel directly through Chase. When redeeming miles for your own travel it’s not hard at all to get a value of 2 cents for each mile, if you fly in first class you can even get a value of 10 cents per mile or more! Multiply that by 2 or even 5 points per dollar in select categories and this card gets quite lucrative!

-2 free annual complimentary airport lounge uses with access to over 350 VIP lounges worldwide. Lounge amenities include internet access, complimentary snacks and beverages, phone, fax, conference rooms and more. Additional visits are available for $27 each.

Spending Bonuses:
-Earn 5 points for each $1 spent on wireless/telecom, cable and satellite television and radio services, office supply stores, and wholesale distributors of office supplies for up to $50,000 of spending in bonus categories.
-Earn 2 points for each $1 spent at gas stations, hotels and motels, and travel agencies for up to $50,000 of spending in bonus categories.
-Earn 1 point per dollar elsewhere.

Fees:
-No foreign transaction fees and Free Employee Cards.
-No interest or over limit fees.
-No Annual Fee in the first year – that’s a $95 savings.

-The Ink Bold is a business card. If Joe Smith sells items on Ebay or has any other side business/hobby and wants a credit card to better keep track of business expenditures he can just open a business credit card for Joe Smith Sole Proprietorship. Just be sure to select “Sole Proprietorship” as the business type and just use your social security number in the Tax Identification Number field as well as in the social security number field. Best of all spending on business cards don’t count against your credit utilization and closing a business card also will not hurt your personal credit score.

-This appears to be an alternate program to the Chase Exclusives program.  In that program you earn between 1.2 and 1.675 points per dollar spent everywhere.  If you have a Chase checking account you can opt into the Exclusives program instead.
-Don’t want to give up on the 2 and 5 point categories? Do what I do and get an Ink Classic card with no annual fee for the same 2 and 5 points categories in addition to upgrading your Ink Bold card to the Chase Exclusives program for 1.2-1.675 points everywhere else and the ability to transfer all the points into airline/hotel programs.  Of course I also carry a Freedom card that I upgraded to Chase Exclusives with no annual fee for small purchases where I earn 10 points for every time I swipe my card in addition to 1.1 points per dollar spent and a Chase Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card® Card for 7% annual bonuses-even on top of the 50,000 point signup bonus,  2.14-3.21 points for spending on dining and travel, for no foreign exchange fees, and an awesome looking metal card!

-The old offer for 25,000 bonus points after spending $1 with threshold bonuses for spending $25K, $50K, or $100K is still alive for now, but will likely be going away soon.

Wondering

It doesn’t seem like anything has changed from the previous offer!?

Dan

@Wondering:
They extended the 50K signup bonus, but they have added the 2x and 5x categories and eliminated foreign transaction fees.

David

Dan-
1. They say that you could provide your login info if you already have a chase account. Does that effect the application in any way?

2. If the business income is relatively low, (lets say $5000), but the household income is high, will that be a problem?

Thanks!

Justin

I want to apply for this card and the chase saphire. Should I apply for all chase credit cards I can think of (other than the Chase Freedoms since I already have it) at the same time so I only get hit with 1 credit inquiry?

Thanks

Lb

How is this dif than ink classic you mention?

Dan

@Lb:
-Ink Bold can transfer into airline/hotel programs. Ink Classic only can if you also have Ink Bold or Sapphire Preferred.
-Ink Bold gets the 2x and 5x bonuses up to $50,000 spend per year instead of $25,000 on Ink Classic.
-Ink Bold has no Foreign Exchange fee, Ink Classic has 3%.
-Ink Bold comes with 2 free lounge visits.
-Ink Bold can link with Chase Exclusives for a different point structure.
-Ink Bold has a $95 annual fee, Ink Classic is free.

Steveo

th eamex gc promo code for waived fees does NOT work! plz help!

anon

how do i get the 2 complimentary lounge passes?
do the passes come with the old deal as well?

anon

is there a lounge in lga?

Dan

@Steveo:
EMSVCA works for me still, please comment on that post.

@anon:
Yes, they came with the old card as well. Call up Chase for more information on the lounge membership benefit.

@anon:
Yes.

m

can you start with a bold for the bonus and downgrade to the classic?

alce

I got the bold ink and Sapphire pref begining of October.
Am I entitled to the 2X & 5X plus all the other extras.

Yaron

@Dan: The other thing that changed is that they eliminated the bonus points for spending 25k/50k/100k. Which is horrible for me (I didn’t get around to applying, but that was my main draw…)

rediplus

looks like all chase sites are down now.

Dan

@Yaron:
The old 25K offer linked to at the end of the post still has the threshold bonuses and the Chase Exclusives program still has them as well.

Mark

Dan, if i understand you correctly:

If you are doing any major big spend purchases you use the Starwood.

If you are doing any “travel” related purchasing you use the sapphire preferred.

If you are doing most other shopping you use the Chase Freedom.

What do you use the Ink Bold for?

Chaim

I know its sort of the wrong topic but if I cancel the sapphire preferred after having it only six months and replace it with the ink bold will I still get the 7% bonus from sapphire?
