All charge about 100k but ANA charge only 64k (transfers from MR), they partner with star alliance (e.g. continental) and also Virgin, but they charge a lot of taxes.
2 things you have to know before you transfer, you cant put anything on hold before you have the points in your account and it takes 2 days to transfer, and the 2nd thing is that you cant make any bookings or changes within 7 days of travel.

Shouldn’t a flight from JFK-MIA (1089mi) be 7,000 Avios?

CVG-JFK, otherwise an expensive option, is also 9,000!
Just to set the record straight, Avios or BA mileage are TERRIBLE finding available dates on partner carriers. Terrible. From personal experience in the past year, no matter how long in advance.

They actually have the same availability as the saver rate on any other carrier.
Go to AA.com, search for saver award rates. If you can book it on AA.com then go to BA.com, search for the award, click on include partners, and it should be there too. If it’s not you’ll just have to call to book.

Transfer what you think you can use within the next 6-9 months and not more than that.

I recently made travel arrangements three days in advance, and found perfect flights! (Mind you, AA only flies CVG-JFK once daily).
I am now trying to book again, I have a few options, but I’m being very picky, and therefor am having a little bit of a hard time.

a RT between NY and Chicago
OR
a RT between NY and Florida.

The one-way price is 7,500 Avios. Round-trip price is twice that, at 15,000 Avios.
MR points transfer in 1K increments, so 12,000 is the minimum amount you need to transfer, in order to yield over 15,000 Avios, after the 30% bonus.
Hey Dan quick question I canceled my southwest card 2 weeks ago but they didn’t remove the annual fee. The card was closed within 60 days opening it, in that case they usually refund the annual fee but they didnt. When I called to verify a manager said they would remove the annual fee for me but in order to do that they would take away the bonus 50k miles that had already posted to my account! Question is once the points are in my southwest actt can they actually remove them or are they guarnteed safe once they post to the account?

I have definitely had times where there was NO availability with avios/AA and when I checked with AA direct I found saver award availability. Its actually quite strange, generally when it is available it will say “7 seats available” never more, so that must be the maximum AA gives BA, 7 seats. However those seats seem to “go away” suddenly without seeming to drop to six five four etc. You do see those lessor amount of seats but it is more common to either see the full seven or nothing. I do wonder what is really going on.
I gave BA miles to someone else and they froze my account of almost 100.000 miles because they think I sold the miles.
@Re: avios availability: Finding available flights on AA through BA can be tricky. The results show in one page only, and the page is limited in how many flights it can show. For example, if you search for a flight from New York, All Airports to Chicago and pick a date 4 months from now to insure maximum availability, the results will likely show flights only until 12PM or 1PM and there is no option of clicking next to continue nor can you select times. If you then search again, but change New York, All Airports to Laguardia (LGA) or JFK you’ll find many more flights. Problem is, if the flights from LGA to Chicago fill up more than a page, you won’t be able to see all of them.

Transferring to BA with this promo is not getting the best value per point if you have a BA CC.
When spending on the BA Chase cards you get 1.25 miles per dollar spent so you are only getting a few extra miles per thousand dollars spent when transferring from amex, you are much better off selling them for 1.6cpm or using it for flights. Unless you do not have a BA Credit Card..
