To book these awards just call AA’s AAdvantage desk at 800-882-8880 and reference the following award code:

You may be able to avoid the $20 phone booking charge by first placing a reservation on hold at aa.com and then calling up AAdvantage to have them reduce the cost of the award by 7,500 miles and ask for the fee to waived since it was originally booked on their website.
Below is a sample list of some of Q1’s valid destinations, origination is allowed from any US48 City.

Note:
-People have had success with being able to originate from any “destination” city and fly to any US48 city for the discounted rate simply by holding the ticket on aa.com and then referencing the award code above to an AAdvantage agent to get the required mileage reduced by 7,500!
-People have also had success booking a one-way award for 8,750 miles (3,750 reduced miles)

If you can do one way you can go to LA and make your final destination Santa Barbara and connect in LA
I tried this method and was forced to pay the fee :(. Still much better to pay $20 than use 7,500 miles!
Question: Typically, you can use a mileage ticket for one whole year within date of original ticketing. If you use reduced mileage award, do you have same flexibility? Can you potentially even use it after reduced award is gone?

anyone have experience getting the reduced rate on already booked mileage tickets (within a week)?
I tried booking from LAX and AA said the code doesnt work from LA or NY but Dan says it works from any state. Am I stuck or try a different agent? Ideas?
Ohh, just realized they are not available until April.
Dan or anyone else, do you have the bonus/promotion ID from the AMEX Gold 25k points after spending $1k? I signed up in November 2010 and never got the points and they need the promotion ID. Anyone have it? Thanks

Yes, I once got the $20 fee removed. I asked one rep, and she told me she couldn’t get it off. Then I called back again and said with confidance that I want an override on the $20 fee since it was originally booked online and the new rep got rid of it.
