Globes reports that Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport will finally get an airport hotel.

Brown Hotels Group will open a hotel on the western side of Terminal 3 with construction slated to begin next year and the hotel slated to open in 2024. The 400 room hotel will cost over $30 million to build.

The hotel will feature a rooftop pool, spa complex, and panoramic views of the runways.

It also means that there will be an option to stay at the hotel and catch a flight that departs shortly after Shabbos, though you should speak to your Rabbi about taking a flight like that from Tel Aviv. It also means there is a backup plan at the airport in case a flight lands close to Shabbos.

Will you stay at a Tel Aviv airport hotel?

Why would they build a hotel when they don’t let too many people in the country? This madness doesn’t seem to have an end in sight! (I want to go to Israel)

“hotel slated to open in 2024”

Dr Moose

Which is roughly the same time tourists will be allowed in.

I’m guessing the plan is to use it for quarantining inbound travelers so they don’t have to travel around the country first. šŸ˜‰

Dan\'s the man

They should make it mehadrin to accommodate those shabbos situations

yerushalmi

They’ll probably serve mehadrin airline meals .

Jack

Did nt they start building a hotel already?
There is an empty shell sitting to right of the terminal building.

Ariella

It’s about time!

Also good for early a.m. flights,……

This is great! Many international flights arrive into Israel at all crazy hours of the night. The last thing you want to do is start shlepping on buses or going to rental car companies at 2:00 a.m.
Get a good night’s sleep and start the fun in the morning!

An airport hotel will not be a budget property.. Are you really going to pay $200-300 to get a few extra hours sleep? Tel Aviv is less than 30 minutes away during off hours.

Jacob

Are there any flight connections in tlv?

SYM

Theoretically there’s a flight transfer desk in the airport. In practice because of Ben gurion security, it’s not used… I imagine there could be a market to fly from Europe to AME via TLV.

I will most definitely be staying there. One less thing to worry about before an international flight. If you want to wash your linen before departing israel so itā€™s fresh when you return but your flight is 11am, the only answer is to stay in the airport hotel. That way you can vacationize your apartment the day before and be off to see the wizard without unnecessary hustle in the am – get outta bed and eat breakfast like a mensch.

MaiaG

For the price of an airport hotel, you can send your laundry out to be washed many many times.
I’m also assuming you have more than one set of linens so that you can have a fresh set for when you return.

Hershel

I highly doubt I will stay there. The prices will likely, as is so with all Israeli hotels, be outrageously poor value. That is not the same as expensive. I stay in expensive hotels but never ones with poor service and arrogant attitudes. Unfortunately, that basically sums up most Israeli hotels. Furthermore, to make it as an airport hotel, when the airport operates as on any other day the whole of Shabbos, chillul Shabbos will be rampant. Why would anyone seek to stay in a hotel like that?

Dave

“chillul Shabbos will be rampant”. I’m confused, there are many hotels, attractions, amusements, museums, and parks (Israel and outside of Israel) with widespread chillul shabbos by secular Jews. Do you avoid those places too? One would have to avoid life in it’s entirety based on your logic. Simple, don’t patronize places which don’t have a shabbos atmosphere over the course of shabbos. If this hotel checks all my boxes, I have no problem spending the night before my flight there. “What happens on shabbos, stays in shabbos”.

Bracha klien

please dont mention other attractions by name better “shogeig” then “meizid”

EG

Sounds like a good option for AM flights.

It would be nice if they also offered half-day/hourly options.

Ari

At 200.00-300.00 a night Iā€™ll pass
This is good for the business class traveler who price doesnā€™t factor into his comfort
