——————————————————————————————–

Yesterday I broke the news that American flights were back on BA.com after a few week hiatus.

Turns out that things are even better than before!

Previously, when there were a lot of available award flights BA.com would only display the earlier flights and not the flights later in the day.
Booking the later flights required a phone call to a competent agent (such as those at the Singapore desk).

Well the good news here is that this glitch appears to have been fixed!

LGA-Chicago on BA.com now matches up exactly to what AA.com shows:

aa1

LGA-Miami on BA.com also matches up exactly to what AA.com shows:

aa2

Except of course BA charges 7.5K for those flights instead of the 12.5K that AA charges. AA has a $75 close-in fee while BA has none. AA charges a $150 cancellation fee while BA allows you to cancel for $5.60.

As per this post, always search for NYC, LGA, EWR, and JFK as each can give different results.

In the past LAN flights have typically had to be booked over the phone, but I’m now seeing LAN routes that have never showed up on BA.com before.

For example Buenos Aires/AEP to Iguazu Falls/IGR can now be booked online:

lan1

Santiago, Chile-Easter Island:

lan2

And Easter Island-Papeete, just a 45 minute flight from Bora Bora:

lan3

Alas, Alaska and Aer Lingus flights are still not available online.

Lkwd

Why to YUL do they always show no availability from NY NJ or phili?

Dan

@Lkwd:
It should show exactly what AA.com shows.

There is a searching tutorial in the related post link to at the top of this post.

Seth

Thanks Dan!

Trying to find EWR-MCO instead of LGA-MIA but no luck (plus, keeps showing connecting through Chicago). Is it worth just going with LGA-MIA and taking a taxi?

yyk

I guess the glitch turned out to be a blessing in disguise! Thanks Dan!

Dan

@Seth:
There is no EWR-MCO flight as per
http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/32877

@yyk:
Indeed 😀

MOSHE

MIA-IAH WAS NEVER ONLINE NOW ITS BACK UP

Dan

@MOSHE:
Awesome!

nochase

chase never approves me, but I have a lot of SPG. can I transfer Starwood to BA ?? and ratio 20:25 if it does?

Dan

@nochase:
Correct, 20K:25K.

If you have a Chase account with $10K in it then a banker can write a special reconsideration for you.

chaim duvid

@ lkwd
looks like yul for beg of aug is not avail
will have to take cars to meilachs wedding ..
or it may still open …

Dan

@chaim duvid:
Availability changes multiple times per day.

luckyluck

@Dan: Lkwd is right. As far as I can see, PHL-YUL still does not show up on BA. Has been this way for a long time. Bookable over the phone though.

MOSHE

NYC-ORD IF YOU PUT IN THE SEARCH NYC IT WILL NOT GIVE THE AFTERNOON FLIGHTS ONLY IF YOU PUTTING IN LGA/JFK/EWR . THE SAME WITH NYC-DALLAS

Dan

@luckyluck:
Interesting, though saver award space on that route is really awful.

Any other broken routes?

@MOSHE:
Indeed, that’s what everyone should know if they read the related post…

John

@Lkwd: there are some flightd, I just checked dates 7/28 – 8/4

MOSH

@Dan: in the past even you search lga-ord it didnt gave you the afternoon flights………………..
now its fixed

BrooklynDan

I am finding AA milesaver awards that have 2 stops, are not showing up on BA. Has this always been the case?

Dan

@MOSH:
I’m aware, that was the point of making this post.

@BrooklynDan:
Always (as per the related post on top 😉 ). Just book it as separate tickets online or call.

luckyluck

@Dan: Saver availability on AA shows up only for next 2 weeks. No other route that I’m aware of.

NJDan

I tried to book LGA – Miami on BA to use Avios and it said “British Airways does not have traffic rights to operate directly between these two cities.” What am i missing? thanks

Dan

@NJDan:
Please read through the related post link at the top of this post.

yitz

phi – yyc showing avail on aa.com
not on ba.com

Rob

The SCL-IPC screenshot looks odd. LAN doesn’t have a first class, yet it’s showing 7 seats available in it.

Also, the SCL-IPC-PPT legs have been possible to book on BA.com before. I’ve personally booked them within the past year online.

Dan

@Rob:
True, but the F seats aren’t bookable.
The Y and J seats appear to be bookable.

AEP-IGU has definitely never showed on BA.com until now.

JM

As always – great stuff & Thanks! Any chance we can get a summary of Avios direct flights out of San Diego?

Mike

Hi Dan,

I thought that 12.5 AA was equivalent to 4k BA points? I see the same 12.5 AA on the BA site.

Dan

@JM:
Thanks.

@Mike:
Please read through the related post link at the top of this post.

avios

3.5 months out and showing no availability on AA nor BA for nyc-mia for 11/1
good chance a bunch will open?

Dan

@avios:
Availability changes constantly, just keep searching multiple times per day on AA.com for saver awards.

avios

@Dan:
as always, thanks so much for your time and help

Mountain Man

Good news! I suspected that the award discrepancies would’ve been fixed when the system went back up.

Mike

I read through it and you state that a 12.5 k flight is equivalent to 4.5 K on BA. When I go on BA.com it still says 12.5 k points the same as AA websites. Is the 12.5 correct or a mistake?

MENDEL

WHATS THE BEST WAY TO GO FROM NYC TO LAX?

Dan

@Mike:
That’s not what I wrote, read it again.

If it’s too hard, stick to this chart:
http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/32877

@MENDEL:
Nonstop.

Mike

You write more in your response then just answering a simple question! A$$!

Dan

You’ve come to the wrong site if you’re looking to be spoonfed.

I teach how to fish, nothing more, nothing less.

Mike

Spoonfed? All the money you make is because of the people on this site. Shouldn’t have your elitist attitude. I asked a simple question that you could’ve answered with a yes or no answer. No need to have an attitude.

Lindy

does anyone know BA blocks domestic JAL award tickets? i’m trying to get NRT-IST in October and i can’t find anything. It’s also forcing me into econ. thoughts?

Burryhood

@Dan:
My man 🙂

Dan

@Lindy:
How is NRT-IST domestic?

Lindy

sorry, i meant Osaka (ITM), not Istanbul (IST).

Michael

“For example Buenos Aires/AEP to Iguazu Falls/IGR can now be booked online for the first time ever”

This is false, I booked this specific flight on January 8th and took it on April 8th of this year.

Dan

@Lindy:
Try calling BA?

@Michael:
Weird, I’ve searched that route many times and have always gotten goose eggs and had to call to book.

At any rate, it’s definitely more reliable than before, as are many domestic AA routes.

Ely

I found many flights MIA – STX…. in past it was almost impossible to find open space on the BA site..

Dan

@Ely:
Nice!

Leizer

I just tried to book a flight from PHX to JFK, BA asked for 50k points?????
It’s supposed to be 12500 no?

Dan

@Leizer:
You’re looking at first class.

Anonymous

upps! Yes u right thanks!

MosheD

Is cx showing?

ChiDan

looking for those saver award flights from ORD-SFO leaving Aug. 9 (prefer morning) and coming back Aug. 13 at night, but nothing – is that typical? What are the chances of something popping up?

DL

Does BA not show AB flights? AA always shows me RJ/AB/HG flights, but BA always tends to miss on those, particularly if routings > 2 segments

Dan

@DL:
Search for the nonstop AB routes.

Sola

@Dan: I’ve seen posted that AA availability is updated twice per day, is that correct?

Jeremy

@Michael: Me too with slightly different timing. Booked in February for March.

Abe the Best

The Bug is Back , you cannot book now on BA website AA flights

Tim

Hi there. I’m trying to find the best way to avoid high ADP charges on a one-way from LON-NYC for two passengers. I only have enough AA points for one mileage ticket with them and also have Avios, QF, DL points. How can I use those points to get a flight without an absurd $300 tax charge?

Tim

@Tim: @dan – any suggestions re the above?

David R

There are several non stop saver awards showing on AA.com, but BA.com is only showing a couple of flights with stops. Is it broken again?

corridor!

I can’t find a single flight from SCL-IPC or IPC-PPT. Are you no longer able to see availability online with BA?
