How much is a Visa?
How much mileage should this earn roughly? (I know it will depend on your stopover city.)
Any reason not to assume I will get my luggage at the point of entry (ORD) and not have to continue to DCA? Any chance of losing mileage for that?
(I know that happened with last year’s USAir deal ending in YYZ.)

Well, I had the purchase screen then decided to be picky on flights and I paid the price…. 1 minute later it was gone. I broke the cardinal rule: just book it and ask questions later!

Oh well, fortunately for me, PEK wasn’t on my bucket list. Congrats to those who got in, I have a feeling this one WILL be honored.

Dan, you should not send people to AA.com (especially without advising them that there is no free cancellations within 24 hours). True you wrote free holds, but holds may not be honored once the fare is pulled whereas ticketed reservations are more likely to be honored.
Just my 2 nickels…

@Someone – Actually Dan said that “You are able to hold tickets on AA.com, though tickets can’t be cancelled once purchased”.
Now, the tickets are being honored by AA, and dates can be changed without penalty within 24 hours if you find a nice rep (the others will tell you you have to pay the difference of fare). Good luck!

Tried changing or cancelling the fares a few times – no one knew why the tickets were so cheap. They thought it was a corporate discount or a mileage ticket. They are catching on now and said a memo will come out soon with full reimbursements as the error fares won’t be honored. Let’s see what happens.

What kind of a Rabbi just shrugs his shoulders to a very valid question which has been dealt with by numerous poskim?
In the kashrus field I know of travelers who would purposely take the looong route to Asia via Europe to avoid the S’fira issues. We’re talking about possible Bracha L’vatala- many of them in fact

My dates didn’t work for me so I called in and after a 18 min conversation AA made a “onetime exception” and canceled my ticket 🙂

MaaYanky – yes they were happy to cancel my second reservation (that overlapped my first)without giving me too much of a hard time – am very surprised that they haven’t released any statements yet.

I understand it’s a VERY BAD IDEA to call / deal with the airline directly over the phone; just book or search by internet in this case.

Just spoke to a AA rep about making a change on my ticket, after a while on hold she told me AA is in the process of contacting the customers and canceling the tickets, so she is happy to cancel it for me now, and I could rebook it if I want! I just told her I’ll wait for AA’s call instead.. I’ll wait and see what happens
