Get A Free Israeli Landline Phone Number

Update: While this works perfectly for me still, an employee at the firm just sent me this:
“Misparchinam.com was not supposed to go live today and this information was leaked prematurely. However, we will be live in 24 hours. Sorry for the inconvenience.”
————————————————-
www.misparchinam.com is now offering a free Israeli landline phone number that you can forward to your US phone.

I just set one up to forward to my Google Voice/OBi landline phone.

With an Israeli number forwarding to your US phone number you can have relatives in Israel call your Israeli number to reach you in the US (or anywhere else you are in the world via Google Voice) as a free local landline call.

I’m not knocking them, but other companies offer same or similar or less- It’s still a good deal, but we recently did some research for bain hazmanim traveling to US, and found a lot of competition. I’m just saying that it’s always best to check out all of the option.

    1) No Israeli callers will not be charged anything extra. They pay the same normal rate.
    2) No you wont get any spam. I can’t get in to specifics how it works but that is not their business.
    3) Why would you want to forward to GV only to forward to your cell phone. Just point it direct. It seems to only not work to GV in the NY area. GV numbers in other areas work.
    4) Most Canadian numbers will work.
    5) There is no free reverse service from the US to Israel but I am sure they will be happy to offer it as a paid service.

    I suspect that once this company gets your cell phone number you will be getting Israeli spam voice messages for products to buy. Their alogorithm is trying to only allow cell phones and block land lines. Cell phones are more likely to be answered even when the caller ID is unknown.

    They can call from any phone. Its dependent on their plan what they will pay, but its treated as a local call.
    You will not be charged, its an incoming call for you. It will deduct from your included minutes if you are not on a unlimited plan.

    @Arby
    Thanks

    @Stu
    The only thing foul smelling is that people try to break the rules :(
    we obviously have a reason why we do not want landlines. We say it on the site that most landlines are NOT eligible and most cells are. I can assure you that the reason is NOT because we are wanting to spam your cell. We have a company to run, if we would spam you, you won’t be happy, we will then defeat the purpose of getting our name out there in a “good light”.

    Sorry, not trying to rant, but why do you think there always has to be something more then we thought its a good marketing idea?

    In any case, it would be nice if people commented on their experiences with our responses to their questions and issues that they submit. We are offering a free product and still trying to offer somewhat quick and friendly responses. Lets see google respond this fast ;-)

    We might, and we might not. BUT most likely we will. The reason is that there is NOT a infinite supply of numbers. Therefore the people who USE it should get a number. The people who have no use for it should NOT get a number. SIMPLE.

    @isaac
    Yes, this is doable, and will cost 5 cents per minute.
    Not sure that you would want to do this but the option is on the table.

    I am assuming that if you are from the US, that most likely the people that are calling you are from the US. We can alternatively give you a US# which you can forward your US cellphone number to. Here’s why. It gets confusing.

    You would want to forward your current US cell to Israel. Thats expensive. We can have your cell for example, 12124441111 goto another US # which is forwarded to an your Israeli rental #. This way your people can call you on your REGULAR US #, and get you in Israel @ 5cents per min.

    There are other options. We can explain if you give us a call 855444JIVE (remember phone number is only for premium services).

    Thanks

    You would need to call us (855444JIVE) to setup the ability to make outbound calls. We do not allow the free accounts to do this as we did not want to require a credit card on signup. We wanted to keep it very simple. Name and Email. If anyone wants premium we would need a credit card. We figured that if we put a credit card request in the setup process that would discourage lots of people who would feel uncomfortable in doing so from signing up.

    @RW
    Words of wisdom. Its a pitty that lots of people don’t think as you do :(
    When the site was leaked, we didn’t even have real pics up. We had placeholder images that said “shutterstock” on them. Trust me that was NOT what we wanted. Thousands of people to come to the site and it would not be ready. We worked overtime to get it done. The site re-lease was supposed to coincide with The Parnassah Expo which is taking place Tuesday February 12th. So think about it. It was re-leased WAY early. In any case, I finally got some sleep, sorry for the late replies to posts. We just all needed to go to bed already.

    @Washington
    Goto the contact us page. Send us a note with your email and phone number where you want the number to ring. We will check the database to see if you were assigned a number and we will send it to you (or assign one to you if one was not assigned yet).

    @Zvi
    Thanks

    @Shmuly
    Yes, Dan IS awesome. Thanks Dan from the misparchinam (jivetel) team!

    It happened to about 10% of signups. Its one of those bugs that don’t get cought when you only have a handful of signups at one time. However when you have 50 – 100 people signing up at the same time, that produces scenarios which were not considered. Furthermore, we were still in middle of completeing the setup process which Was NOT ready yet (and was leaked – see our other replies, and Dans original post).

    @EVERYBODY
    Thanks for signing up! Thanks for beinig patient. AND lastly, thanks for creating some massive traffic on our site. We are happy we were not taken down totally, only some minor bugs which we have (hopefully) all squashed.
    Now we will hopefully be able to spend some time improving the product.

    Just wondering how long it takes to receive the email with the numbers. It has been a while and I haven’t received anything. Thanks.
