This just in from the airline that recommends its travelers to arrive at the airport some 3 hours before flight time…
In the US air carriers’ race to the bottom Spirit is now allowing just one free piece of checked luggage!
It wasn’t too long ago when many carriers allowed 3 bags and allowed them to contain 70 lbs. each…
Here’s hoping the rest of the lot don’t follow Spirit’s lead.

It wasn’t that long ago, when they would also give you a meal on a flight from miami to New York! Now you have to pay $5 for a small thing of Pringles on song! Thats why, as much as I can, I fly JetBlue! They have a variety of free snacks, of which at least the Terra blue chips are kosher, and they write that they will give you as much as you want! (I have tested that policy, I once asked for about 7 bags, and they just kept giving me!). Thats besides for the fact that they have leather seats, and I think the most legroom.

British airways also has that restriction!

I don’t know what’s the big deal. They are only charging 10 bucks for the second suitcase. if i get a roundtrip ticket on a promotion, and its a big difference, i dont care paying the extra 20 bucvks for the luggage (roundtrip).

and btw, i never had a bad experience with spirit, and i have flown with them 5 roundtrips since tishrei. never left late, and sometimes even early. never lost my luggage.

personally, it was a better experience than aa, delta, airtran or us-airways.

just my two cents…

I second anon 7:10. I always heard how it was a crappy airline (they apparently got that reputation before they got their new fleet of airplanes) and I was surprised to find myself having a good ride on a spanking new and clean airline with comfortable seats. Granted they don’t provide any entertainment like jetblue but neither does anyone else, and their legroom space beats all the other domestic carriers I’ve flown (other than jetblue of course).

I place spirit after only Jetblue and Southwest, but with their usually rock bottom prices, I find flying spirit a no-brainer.

And lastly, I can count on one hand, the amount of times I checked in more than two pieces of luggage on a domestic flight.

Boy did they follow spirit’s lead!
