I have been getting wine recommendations from long-time DDF’er Chevron, aka Elchonon Hellinger, since I moved to Miami over 10 years ago. He is a wine aficionado like no one else that I know. He introduced me to my favorite winery Clos Mesora as well as Shira and many others.
Back then, I was going to his apartment to share bottles.
It is very fitting that he’s now doing that for the entire South Florida from his warehouse of 30,000 bottles cooled to exactly 64 degrees. Though I am pretty sure he had 30,000 bottles in his apartment in North Miami Beach as well when I used to go there.
They offer free local shipping on all case orders in most of South Florida and Orlando. They do not offer shipping out of state.
There are a few things that truly set Elk apart from other wine stores.
1. Their prices. They are almost always cheaper than any other source of wine in South Florida or online. You can shop and compare prices on their full wine selection here. Plus, be sure to shop their closeout section here for even better discounts!
2. They are here to help you!
Elchanon, aka Elk, has given me fantastic recommendations on wine, and he is happy to help you, too! You can WhatsApp him here yourself! (Read his Ami interview here.)
3. They sell bottles you cannot buy in stores! Shop their exclusive wine selection here.

Elchonon is a true legend and mentch to deal with
I’ll take arba cases
Besides being a great guy, hands down, Elk has the widest selection of kosher wines in the world.
Been ordering from Elk for years here in Miami. Elchonon is a solid guy with an amazing selection at great prices!!
Please, enough with the fake comments. I’m actually interested in several of the wines but I get turned off when there are disingenuous comments. I’m glad the owner is a “solid guy” and a “legend”, but as a customer- how does that help me if he’s part of the cool kids in shul? Talk about the PRODUCT.
I hear you, but this is a boutique local store.
And the owner is integral to it.
You can WhatsApp him and talk wine and get recommendations for yourself to see how this is different.
@jj , i think had a few bottles before that comment – gonna let this one slide
Sounds like you need to relax with a good bottle of wine
Dave,
The product is volatile. I’m selling wine in Miami and yes integrity here and anywhere is important.
You can come by and see the temperature controlled Warehouse. I had the place insulated so even in July it’s 64
Beyond that, there’s probably about 500 kosher French wines on the market all bearing Grand Vin de Bordeux tasting either like heaven, hell or something in the middle.
Some wines are drinking great now, others would benefit from years of aging.
I sell many wines that are not well known, wines you won’t find in stores. But bottom line is, I know every wine I sell and try to help people get the best wines to fit palate and budget.
so when are you going to start shipping out of state?
Elk is the best. His wine selection is excellent. I have been buying wines from him long tome. Never had an issue. Great prices and great customer service. Didn’t know he was “going public”. Highly recommended. His Hajdu selections are quite tasty as well as the classics.
Any wine recs for those outside of FL? Love the selection here!
I just got my pesach delivery to my home in Hollywood FL. Excellent service and the prices are great. I highly recommend.
I visited Cleveland and they have an excellent selection of wines at The Grove from the same supplier I’m sure. Israeli wines like a range of Hevron Heights’ Isaac’s Ram, Makhpela.
Unnecessary to schlep back wine from Florida to Cleveland with flights etc Not a Dans deal.
The Dans deal would be to go to Cleveland and hit their restaurants, parks and attractions. Nothing like the Cleveland summer and I don’t even live there!
Cleveland has lots going for it, but wines are not one of them.
I almost never buy wine locally. Poor selection and state controlled pricing and inventory.
Elk’s wine box was great!
Elk is amazing. He has figured out how to keep the price of wine comparable to NY while his competition has not
JJ seems to determined for your business to success, so I’ll offer some unsolicited tips from the consumer side. 1. Although it’s work intensive, please indicate which hashgacha each wine has. Many people prefer certain hashgachos. Please also indicate the alcohol content %, and which region the wine is from. Specifically, I’d also recommend indicating whether the wine is dry or sweet, or semi-sweet- everyone has different preferences. I’m not even sure if a wine is pesadic or chometz. Not everyone wants to jump on a call or WhatsApp to discuss (even though I’m sure you are a nice guy, as you’ve mentioned multiple times before). 2. The business is restricted to only surrounding zip codes in south Florida. My cousin in Jacksonville can’t consider your site, because although he’s in Florida, the zip code says it’s unavailable to deliver there.
3. Product placement- have you thought about patterning with in-person placement at some kosher supermarkets (like South Florida Kosher Meats or Kosher Kingdom)? Not everyone buys alcohol online.
4. JJ is being generous promoting your business, but do you advertise locally, such as in the Jewish Journal or in various publications which shuls send out. I understand there is a considerable cost with promoting.
