You can use a 5 pound bag of flour in this.
Not really. I broke my first one that way. You can do 4 lbs which is good for hafrashas challah. I like this one because it can do 3-4 recipes of cake or cookies at a time. Or smaller batches of challah, pizza dough etc.
My wife made 5 pounds of challah in a 6 qt weekly for 9 years until I just recently bought her a 7 qt.

did it really break or just stop working from overheating? Kitchenaids have a tendency to overheat when used for too long (even with less flour) but they start working again once they cool down
I’ve even done 6lb. You first mix the dough with 3/4 of the bag of flour and slowly add the rest shutting the mixer for a few minutes in between to let it cool down
