Update 2: DEAD!

———————————————————————————

Update: I just sent a $10 eGift card from my account to my wife’s account and from my wife’s account to my account.  That generated a $20 eGift card for each of us and the full $40 was all able to be transferred onto our existing Starbucks Gold card that we share.

Steve

What if someone hypothetically had two email addresses?

duvzwingz

People have reported not receiving the additional $10 right away (or at all as of yet):

levi

Hey Dan
can i send to someone then that same person send to me?

Dan

@Steve:
Try and find out?

@duvzwingz:
Last year it took a day.

@levi:
Last year that worked.

MNL

doesn’t work. maybe sold out?

yossi

How do they know if I send it to anather email adress of mine?

CBS

where does it say it must be a red cup card?

T

Does it have to be the Red Cup one? Is that necessary?

mnl

is there any confirmation? I just received the regular $10 receipt and recipient received $10 gift card.

Sarah

Will a Visa Debit card work? The Starbucks website seems to not ask if it is credit card or a debit card at checkout.

MNL

@Dan: just wondering what the actual receipt others received says.

Sarah

Can a Visa credit card from any country (e.g. Canada) be used?

Sarah

@Sarah: Just re-read on Starbucks that USA, Canada and UK are acceptable.

reuvenhunt

I have a starbucks gold card and would like to take advantage of this offer for myself. It is ideal to have the money end up in my gold account.

I think that the smart thing to do would be to create another account in the name of Mrs. Reuvenhunt and have her send me the gift card. It’ll cost us $10 and we’ll end up with $20 in the starbucks gold account where we want it.

Does anyone see a problem with that?

Shlomo

If I am sending myself a gift from a “new’ account that I created, can I use a CC that has my name on it? Will the system be able to detect that the name on the CC is similar to the recipients?

Dave

Can be ANY gift card.

“Be one of the first 100,000 to buy a Starbucks Card eGift (min $10) with your Visa® card and we will add an additional $10, courtesy of Visa. Send $10—they get $20, send $25—they get $35, send $50—they get $60, just for using your Visa card. Offer valid from 12/8–12/12/14. One per person. Cannot send to yourself.”

“Be one of the first 100,000 to buy a Starbucks Card eGift of $10 or more with your Visa® card from Dec 8 – 12 and we’ll add an extra $10— just a little bonus to make your gift go further. The bonus won’t be reflected in your checkout experience, but will be confirmed in your email receipt. One per person. Cannot send to yourself. This offer is still available.”

rubu

Lot of folks are claiming its not working. Where are the terms? Where is this advertised?

Alan

Can you use the same visa twice? from 2 different accounts?

Doug

Just worked for me, confirmation came in email that said $20 purchased for $10

Mark

My email confirmation said $10! (and I did my order at 11:10 when there definitely were still availability).

T

I loaded it with a Visa, confirmation e-mail only says $10. Too bad they haven’t worked out the kinks yet.

mendy

just sent my self from 1 email to the other, got an instant email in recipient acct to redeem $20 gift, added to my sbux app, transferred to my main card, no prob

also got instant email from my “sender” email confirming $20 gift sent while paying $10

many thanks Dan, makes my java/iced tea addiction a little less painful!

Iz

Mine only said $10 on bot the receipt and the received gift card 🙁

FYI

This starts at 12PM Eastern. Any purchases made beforehand will not be elligible

Dan

@FYI:
The page was up before then.

Just call Starbucks and I’m sure they’ll honor it.

David R

This is not much better than http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/54441 with two AmEx cards. Many of us have amassed several AmEx cards so it can be done a few times.

T

Thiss + the Amex offers + the groupon they just had means a TON of Starbucks 50%.

ff

Can the $20 be used anywere or only at Starbucks?

Vlad

worked for me. I was able to transfer to my own account

ec

Worked for me. received a confirmation after 10 min

Redbull3

I think sbucks is on to the +1 scheme. I have a gmail acct and sent to a +1 account, even though I got the confirmation I never got the actual card. And it wouldn’t let me create a unique sbucks account with a +anynumber following my gmail either.

This should work afaict:
Create a sbucks account1 with email1 and send to email2 (but not using +number scheme) using visa1. Get confirmation and get ecard. register ecard into starbucks account2 (for $20 and free drink for signing up) and send to email3 using visa2. rinse and repeat.

Ani

I tried this and it didn’t work for me. When I called Starbucks, however, they honored the promotion and credited 10 dollars to my account. It did require waiting on hold for 15 minutes to speak to a representative.

ben

is one allowed to buy more than one $10 card- ie 3 and pay for each with visa and send to 3 different people and get $20 for each? or only allowed to buy one?

Redbull3

update:
you can send from gmail to +1gmail and get the confirmation and the card.
But you can not register that +1gmail for the new account/free drink.
you need “real” emails to perpetuate the cycle.

Dan

@Redbull3:
You can try periods also.

R.edbull3@gmail.com and Re.dbull3@gmail.com will be delivered to Redbull3@gmail.com.

Redbull3

Didn’t know that – I’m assuming there is still a lock against creating new starbucks accounts with that as well though just like +#?

Dan

@Redbull3:
Try it and let us know.

zow

Dan, (how) are you able to share your Starbucks Gold Card between you and your wife? AFAIK, I can only use the gold card in one mobile device’s app at a time. Maybe you use the physical card and she uses the App? Or can you get extra physical cards? Other solutions?

Dan

@zow:
I use the app, she has the card.

Redbull3

R.edbull3 new account success!

Dan

@Redbull3:
Nice!

Ttt

Got emails that they were sent but didn’t recieve any email with card?

Perplexed

@Ttt: +1

it worked!

I bought the redcard with my login and sent it to my other email account. how many times can one purchase per account?

Mike

I bought one for my wife and wife bought one for me. I used the same Visa card. Only one email says that I got the 10$ promotion. Do I need to use 2 seperate credit cards?

Path

*** FYI ***
Your starbucks account has an email address associated with it.
That is the SENDER email address.
MAKE SURE THE RECIPENT EMAIL ADDRESS IS DIFFERENT from you starbucks email address.
OR else this will not work – as it will look like you are sending yourself the gift – and that is not valid for this offer.

mh

Did not get it – purchased 11:43 – on hold over 20 minutes already.

You posted it to early.

Avi

Approximately how long does it take to actually receive the email with the e-card? I used my wife’s email and she received the receipt of purchase, but I have yet to receive the e-card.

Anyone know?

ShlockDoc

Redbull3 and others,

Keep in mind that there is a set number of promotions being given. That means that every additional credit you request with trickery for yourself you are directly harming someone else who wont be able to qualify.

*steps off soapbox*

Dan

@mh:
Call or email and they’ll credit your account.

The page didn’t say that it started at noon.

mh

how long until the person receives it? i purchased it at2pm and recipient still has not gotten it

Gila

jim

bought $10 from my email & sent to same email with . in the middle and I never received any gift codes.

Redbull3

Shlock I’ll show you a place you can shove the soap box. I’m the biggest starbucks addict in the world and would take all 100k if I could. 🙂

elle

@jim Don’t feel too bad yet…i used different e-mails and haven’t received the egift cards yet either, only the receipt (and it showed $20 value after paying $10.)

Perplexed

Got it!!

Ttt

Didn’t work. Not sure why. I did 3 times. 2 worked. 1 just sent & recieved $10.

Dov

Terms say “Promotional offer open to legal residents of the 50 United States and D.C. who own a valid Visa® card. So I guess Canada is out, for those who asked.

EJ

It took 5 hours for my recipients to receive the 20.00. Each family member sent one to another family member times 6, all worked. (Unique Visas unique accounts.)

Ari

Just did it with my wife and it worked right away. Your receipt will say $10 but when they get the email and open the giftcard it will have $20 on it. Thanks Dan!

Larisa

It worked, got 2 cards for me and my husband, paid $20 , got $40 !!!! Thanks for the lead

Brian

I bought this yesterday and sent this to my son. I did everything as described and sent it to his unique email address and paid with my Visa card, but no $10 bonus was given. I just called Starbucks to complain and they added the additional $10 bonus to his card without issue. HOWEVER, I had to give them his 16-digit gift card number so that they could load the additional funds. (Fortunately, I had this. He’s a college student, and when I asked him if he was SURE he only got $10, rather than $20, he texted me a screen shot of the egift card and told me to check the balance online myself if I didn’t believe him.)

Marilyn

I ordered two $10 gift cards. One came with the extra twenty the other did not. Any suggestions?

DID NOT WORK

@dan

Purchased before 12pm ET, did not get the $10 bonus. Called customer service they refused to help. Said the 12pm start time was in the linked terms and conditions and there is nothing they can do about it now.

Dan

@DID NOT WORK:
The page never said 12pm.

Call back, ask for supervisor.

DID NOT WORK

@dan:
Spoke to spuervisor. She was adamant that there were linked terms and conditions and that there was nothing she could do for me. Followed up via email to their customer support with a screenshot of the deal page showing no addition terms with the 12pm start time. Will see what happens.

Fred T,

Did not work for me, but thanks for posting it. I will have to check your site more often so I am faster next time.

newcomer

Just got off the phone and they credited me the $10. Tx Dan
