The popular Gizmodo blog writes that AMEX is processing price protection claims for $200 refunds to people who bought the iPhone before last week’s $200 price-cut.
Only problem? AMEX discontinued their price-protection program (called BVG, or Best Value Guarantee) last year. No current AMEX card is advertised as offering any kind of price protection.
Additionally, return protection only covers items up to $300.
Sure, AMEX will take the claim, but the examiner will just reject the claim because its not covered!
Now if anyone wants to just file a chargeback against Apple for knocking 33% off the price of the iPhone just months after its release, that may just work!
