Gizmodo: American Express Honoring Price Protection For iPhones…

5

The popular Gizmodo blog writes that AMEX is processing price protection claims for $200 refunds to people who bought the iPhone before last week’s $200 price-cut.

Only problem? AMEX discontinued their price-protection program (called BVG, or Best Value Guarantee) last year. No current AMEX card is advertised as offering any kind of price protection.

Additionally, return protection only covers items up to $300.

Sure, AMEX will take the claim, but the examiner will just reject the claim because its not covered!

Now if anyone wants to just file a chargeback against Apple for knocking 33% off the price of the iPhone just months after its release, that may just work!

At any rate, later this week we should have the info on how to get the $100 Apple Store credit for you early-adopters who just wouldn’t listen to my advice regarding the 1st generation iPhone…

“The rep said it wasn’t usually covered under their plan, but since they love their customers so much, they’re going to honor it this time. And that’s why we love American Express.”
