While the terms don’t officially allow for gift cards, you will get reimbursed for physical gift card purchases, based on my experience. Unfortunately, those are only sold for a minimum of $150 online, so you would effectively get a 33.3% discount on those. Online eGift cards won’t work.

Just to note more than 1 rep told me the egift promo cards can be extended 3 days(1 rep even said 3 months but highly doubtful)
You can check online to see what the remaining funds are on the gift cards. If there are funds showing up during that check, at the time of the online purchase and for the duration of the preparation of the packaged item for being sent out, then even if the transaction date is after the card’s printed expiration date, the gift cards’ funds are still applied to the purchase. And you don’t even need to necessarily be in California at the time of transaction for this to work as stated above.
