Can someone explain why Vornado fans cost so much more than regular fans ?
This Vornado model is more expensive because the Motor is DC and not AC power (most fans).
DC fan motors are more expensive but quieter, run cooler, more energy efficient (Energy-Star) and longer lasting.
But not all Vornado models are DC. But most are better built with in-line fuses in the plug, with a 3yr warranty.
We have been replacing out ceiling fans with DC model’s slowly.
I bought a knock-off model by Rosewill from Newegg a few years ago. The vortex science is solid The VORTEX action of the “Vornado” fan design does move air effectively and over longer distance in a compact form factor.
I bought the V8 Flippi Vornado.
It’s a personal size fits on a desktop or nightstand, but perfect for a home office or bedroom it oscillates. Amazon sells it for about $23. I bought ours from our local warehouse membership store for $15 on sale about 10 days ago.

DC motors use up to 70 percent less electricity. If you run your fan 24/7, it will cost about 5$ a month in electricity (do the math!). That means you would be saving about 3$ a month.
If you run your fan often and your fan lasts as long as Vornado fans are supposed to last, you will make back your money.
