Until 11:59pm PST tonight you can buy as many Prime Gift Subscriptions as you want for just $72 via this link.

Amazon Prime is normally $99 per year and is always subject to increasing as it has in the past.

However Amazon Prime Gift Subscriptions never expire so you can lock in the $72 rate for as long as you want!

You can have Prime Gifts emailed to you now and you can file them away in a folder in your email.  They will always be good for a full year of Prime and they will never expire.

When you send yourself a gift year of Prime you will get an email with a special link that instantly gives a year of Prime to whatever account opens the special link.  The gift of Amazon Prime isn’t auto-renewing like regular Amazon Prime is.

Just set your Prime not to auto-renew.

To do that:

Step 1: Set your membership to not auto-renew.  To do so click on this link and select “End Membership.”

prime1.

Step 2:  You will then see the following screen. Choose to end your membership later.

If neither option is clickable then your account has already been set not to auto-renew.

After that you can buy as many gifts of Prime as you want to lock in the $72 rate. After your current subscription ends you can click on the special link from the email and activate another year of Prime.

You can use it for yourself or give it as a gift in the future to anyone else.

What happens if you click on the special link when you still have an active Prime subscription? It will ask you if you want to convert the Prime subscription into a $72 gift card.

If you paid tax for the Prime Gift then you will also get the tax back as a gift card.

If you have gift card funds locked in one Amazon account and you want to transfer the funds to someone else you can buy Prime gift subscriptions with your gift cards and send them to another Prime account.  That other account can then turn them back into gift cards in their account.

If you have Amazon gift cards and Amazon Prime you really can’t lose by buying a number of Prime gifts for the future.  Either you can save them up for cheaper Prime for years to come or you can always convert them back into $72 Amazon gift cards if you just want to use the funds to buy things sooner!

So, how many will you be buying?

Amazon offers free shipping with $35+ orders or get free next-day shipping on all orders with a free trial of Amazon Prime. Prime members can share benefits with a Household member here, allowing them to double up on Amazon Prime promos!  A 6 month trial and discounted Prime membership is available with Amazon Student. EBT/Medicaid Cardholders can save on Prime Membership here.

Chaim

They are just holding your money for 25 percent discount if your expiring soon it’s worth it but just have prime U might as well by gift cards when you need them . I don’t see the upside of having prime gc sitting in storage

Dani

@Dan THANKS! Remind me. How many people can share a prime account?
Thanks. Shavua tov

Dan

@Chaim:
It’s a 27.3% discount.

If you know how to get that kind of guaranteed return on your money within say, 7 years, I’d love to hear about it.

@Dani:
5 people can share a prime account, though some benefits are only for the primary member.

Dk23

At 1159 pm tonight it goes up to $99 for a gift prime subscription?

Dan

@Dk23:
Correct.

pcgeek

Is this method eligible for sharing your prime subscription with others? I would assume it is, but just want to be sure.

Dan

@pcgeek:
Sure!

David

Dan,
I have 2 amazon prime promo codes that I got from Amex ,wana sell them for 49.99 each ,
As I can’t you use more then 1 per year an they expire in towards the end of the year if not used.can you post me a link to the DDF
Where I can sell it ?

Dk23

Great call Dan!

Malki

@Chaim: Where else can you make 27.2% in a year?

Nighthawk700

In the email I received about this, it said new members only. So would this work for trying to renew?

AJK

Any way to avoid tax?

Dan

@Nighthawk700:
Yes.

@AJK:
Change your account address to OH?

Malki

@AJK: Get an EIN from the IRS. Otherwise; taxes, like death are not avoidable.

David

@Dan:
Thans dan!
Do you think that this trick above to redeem amazon prime for gift cards would work for my promo cods as well ?
Bt”w I’m on mobile do you have any mobile site to DDF?

shal

@David
Email me shal@mailinator.com

osha

Dan, can you explain the change of address of the account?
I pay tax for my orders…

ssb

Can I also do this for Amazon mom?

Mendel

Can this be used for Amazon Mom?

moshewoodmere

@Dan,

No pressure but if it’s postwar the I want a h/t 😉

A. Tasso

@Mendel:
Yes

@A. Tasso:
Amazon isn’t going anywhere.

Mahosvh

Any way to buy more than one at a time

chaim

your correct for one year its worth it but to buy for next five yrs etc doesn’t make any sense. I can get you 8 to 10 percent 90 percent guaranteed per year but not on a 72 dollar investment! lol

iahphx

Thanks, Dan. Nice out-of-the-box thinking on this.

I was holding some Amazon gift cards, so in addition to buying a new membership, I converted gift cards into a future membership.

FWIW, this is my first time paying for Amazon Prime. I’ve previously taken advantage of various free memberships and it does seem possible to keep signing up for free one-month memberships from different email accounts, but that get’s tiring — and I assume Amazon will eventually lose their patience with me. Amazon has enough cheapo “flash sales” that I think I will get my money’s worth — and their customer service and shipment speed is the best in the business. A heck of a lot more valuable than a Costco card, I think.

Capps

Just got 3.Thanks, Dan.

shmelke

You need to make sure when buying it from a prime account that the gift checkbox is checked if not you cannot place the order (I just bought for 3 years)

Dm

Only give an option to buy one at a time any way to order more?

Israel

Is everyone being charged tax? and why? (i’m from NJ)

Tom

If amex gave me a prime code from the EDP bonus, is there any way they would switch it to a $99 statement credit ?

savingsbigtime

Is it the same for amazon mom ?

Doniyel

If I click “Start Enjoying Prime” before my prime membership expires, what happens?

If I click “Already a Prime Member?” does it automatically convert to GC?

So if I want prime I have to wait for my prime to end first? Or can I redeem this right away and extend my prime?

pcgeek

In for 3. Couldn’t figure out how to order all at once, so I placed 3 separate orders.

Leo

Can we have link for a forum that members could share a prime membership

Anonymous

@shmelke: or you can just use Dans link to Prime Gift Subscriptions

joe

can we have a link for a forum that members can share amazon prime membership together

Doniyel

@Dan- Above you said “5 people can share a prime account, though some benefits are only for the primary member.”

How does that work? How can 5 people share a prime account?

Dan Fan

I signed up for Amazon Prime Student about 4 or 5 years ago when it was free. They never charged me a dime and it seems I got lucky and it’s free for life. Any word on them changing that? Otherwise this deal is pointless for me.

pcgeek

@Leo: comment #10 second link.

Dave

How do you turn the gifted prime membership into an Amazon gc?

Anonymous

@Dan:
What meas tapatalk???….

Dave

In for four. All converted to GCs. Prime is way cheaper than this with Mom or Student, so this is a better path forward.

Moe

Little confused since it says “Your Prime membership will begin when you place your order ” but I don’t want it to begin yet. I have prime from my Son (I’m on his Prime). Is the msg incorrect and I can just keep the email and use when I want ?

AJ

Hi Dan,
You write:
“What happens if you click on the special link when you still have an active Prime subscription? It will ask you if you want to convert the Prime subscription into a $72 gift card.”
What if I forget to click on it while I have Prime, can I still convert it back to a gc afterwards?
Thanks a lot.

Aryeh

Dan, I have 2 codes for free year of Prime. Can I stack them and get free prime for 2 years?

Ryan U

I just tried to place three individual orders. The first one went through, but the other two are stuck on processing. Anyone else get this?

Rafi

Can these be bought with gift cards?

Salo

I’ll stick with my still cheaper .edu Student Prime membership.

Peretz770

First order went without a hitch. By when I went to order a second, it said that my email was invalid.
What happens if I order the second with a different email? Will that mean that I won’t have prime for my amazon account, but will have to set up a new one?

Sara

@Israel:

Israel, there is a link about sales tax at the bottom of the ‘Check Out’ page. This is what it says:

—-

Your Order: Tax and Seller Information
Your order contains one or more items from an Amazon.com partner and may be subject to local sales tax, depending on the state to which the item is being shipped.

The following products are sold by Amazon Services, Inc.:

Amazon Prime (One Year Membership) –taxed

Unless otherwise noted, items sold by Amazon.com LLC are subject to sales tax in select states in accordance with the applicable laws of that state. If your order contains one or more items from a seller other than Amazon.com LLC, it may be subject to state and local sales tax, depending upon the seller’s business policies and the location of their operations.

We do not collect sales or use taxes in all states. For states imposing sales or use taxes, your purchase is subject to use tax unless it is specifically exempt from taxation. Your purchase is not exempt merely because it is made over the Internet or by other remote means. Many states require purchasers to file a sales/use tax return at the end of the year reporting all of the taxable purchases that were not taxed and to pay tax on those purchases. Details of how to file these returns may be found at the websites of your respective taxing authorities.

Please note: The sales tax indicated on the checkout form is an estimate. The sales tax ultimately charged to your credit card will be calculated when your credit card charge is authorized and will reflect applicable state and local taxes.

Hope that helps.

“Amazon Prime Gift Subscriptions never expire so you can lock in the $72 rate for as long as you want”

Dan, Does that mean that if I bought the membership gift card and sent it to my email address today…I would be able to use that membership forever? or am I limited to one year from the time of delivery?

Meaning…What I am trying to say is…Does it make a difference when the gift card is sent? and if not…Why send it to yourself in a years time…why not just send it to yourself today and use it when you need it…say ten years from now..?

savingsbigtime

Does prime work for 20% off pampers ?

milechazzer

Does amazon charge tax based on account address, or shipping address? I changed my shipping address to a tax-free state, but I’m still getting an estimated tax amount. Will that go away when they actually charge the order?

Honest Abe

btw…I just bought several gift subscriptions for amazon prime and it was straight up $72 no tax…I think you get charged tax if you outright buy the subscription today but if you buy it as a gift and the redeem it immediately …no tax..

Sam

Changed my billing and shipping address to OH and there was no tax, thanks Dan!

Sam

Can you send Amazon gc via amazon payments?

lee

@Honest Abe: what state are you in? I am trying to purchase a gift membership, but I am getting charged sales tax.

Rafilip

@Salo: I was nervous about this too, however I bought two just in case they ask for student confirmation after I graduate – turned off Prime auto-renew, bought the gift subscriptions, flipped it right back on

lee

@Honest Abe: What state are you in? i am trying to buy a gift membership, but am being charged the sales tax.

Booky

Just bought in ny, no tax

yudi

I signed up on Amazon prime when the orice was still $79 and it got renewed in December for the same price, does that mean that this price will stay for me forever?

noted thinker

Thanks Dan just got 60 years worth of Amazon prime

Ronin Eksehe

dan, why doesn’t my girlfriend call me back?

Honest Abe

New York

Honest Abe

And I am only a secondary Prime member currently…and I was able to buy the gift prime memberships for later…saving it up for when the primary member on my membership decides to cancel…then I cash in on seven years of good luck..lol…or at least saving a couple of bucks on amazon prime…

Honest Abe

My only question for Dan is…

Are you absolutely certain that these membership links do not expire within one years time? I mean why does amazon only allow you to send the link for only one year ahead? why not two or three years? You sure there is no cut off point when these expire? Because I just bought 7 years worth…that’s the equivalent of $504…

Really hope you are right about this…

Do you happen to know where it says this in writing that these don’t expire? A link would be helpful. Thanks.

got it

got it even after 2 am on the 25th. will this work to be redeemed for amazon Mom?

Return

In for 20!

Anonymous

@David:I would be interested in purchasing one or your amazon primes for 49.99

Skermehorn

My amazon prime is renewing shortly and I missed out on the deal. Anyone have a code to sell me?

seller

@Skermehorn:
give me a way to contact you to discuss sale of amazon prime membership

Chuck

Dan,
Will the ‘unlock gift card’ idea work if I don’t have a primary Prime account?

I’m a secondary on my sister’s prime account, and I want to unlock some gc.

Moish

Why does amazon prime seem so desired? What’s so special? Free shipping? Is that what all the fuss is about or am I missing something?

nila

Why when I go to add it to my cart is $99? Is the offer over?
Thx

Ron

@nila: Yes. You don’t even need to read the post; just read the first 2 words of the headline.

Kb

Says $99

Debbie

Hmm, I received the notice about this offer on Jan. 25. Ron, be nice to people. It was definitely confusing to receive an offer after it expired.

jim

$72 for prime is rip off. I got for $50. Called 10 days ago and asked for retention bonus for existing prime member. sold me for half off, regular price is $99.99.

you guys never heared or never know the word RETENTION OFFER OR RETENTION BONUS?

Ken

My prime expires on March 4. I set it not to auto renew. Do I need to wait until it expires to load my $72 prime gift or can I do it before??

Michael B

I have the same question as Ken: Do I need to wait until it expires to load my $72 prime gift or can I do it before?
