Can someone shed some light on how to figure the size required for the amount appliances?
Read your appliance label. if it only lists Amps use the following formula. Amps x volts = watts. for example a 1,000 watt appliance on 110v would need 10 Amp, vs. a 1,000 watt appliance on 220v would only need 5 Amps.
some common appliances and their draw.
Hair dryer, iron, space heater, window AC 1,500 watts
Fridge 7 amps (use above formula)
rule of thumb, anything used to produce heat or cold (AC) will consume a lot of energy. basic motor to move things (e.x. fan) will draw very little.
