This will be much better for portraits than the kit lens. 50-85mm is great for portraits, the 85mm will get better bokeh (blurred background) and will generally look great for headshots and small group portraits. You will need a decent amount of room to get a large family into frame with an 85mm, won5 be able to do that indoors. Also realize that the fact that this is a full frame on the a6000 it will actually crop it and youll be getting more like a 120mm.

I will leave this to the real photography experts here, but IINM, a full-frame lens on a cropped sensor (such as the a6000) won’t actually give you the full benefits of a full-frame lens mounted on a full-frame sensor. Feel free to correct me, or elaborate, experts!

However I’ve seen in other websites (petapixel) that some people managed to go to bestbuy and.succesfully price match to amazon’s price glitch and get the lens for the deal price
