Even though it’s cheap, I suggest putting the money toward a smart home sensor. You want to know asap, wherever you are, if there is a water leak in the home. This is a “dumb” one that is just a local speaker, so if you aren’t near it or home then it’s not going to do you any good.

High & Dry, Usually

While perhaps this type of water alarm isn’t as good as a smart one, it does have a lot of uses. City water pressure tends to rise in the early morning hours, then drop during the day, so many leaks will happen while everyone is asleep. Also, the standard work week (back when there was one) is 40 hours, leaving 136 hours when people are not at work and this alarm would likely be heard.

We have 3 similar alarms in different flood-prone areas of my house.

A disadvantage of battery powered alarms like this one is that the low-battery beeping starts (at least in my house) in the darn middle of the night.

Sam the man

Also if in basement where most leaks happen it can’t be heard upstairs

BAck when this deal was published, I bought three of them. Yes, they are not SMART but similar products have done its job for small leaks.

However, these were totally useless. Ity was not the case of an odd bad piece.

One was DOA.
Other worked but alarm was too weak.
Third one was half immersed in water without any alarm.

Even if you want non-smart, there are numerous other products (watchdog for example) that actually work with quite audible alarm.

THIS IS JUNK.
Shame on Honeywell.
