I got one! Thanks! I’m due next week!

snugride 22 is actually not a good carseat. go with the 30 or 35. U cant adjust in the front for 22 and the slots usually dont fit newborns well.

Moe

That is incredibly cheap for a seat. If price is your only concern, this is a great option. But honestly, if price is your ONLY concern.

If you want a seat that will last until your baby is ready to go forward facing, try the Graco Snugride 35. It’s much larger and can take a kid up to 35 lbs and ~30 inches. Don’t get the Snugride 30 – my friends did and ended up putting their daughter forward-facing too early because of cost concerns. My wife and I bought the Snugride 35 and it lasted until my son was 2 (and he’s 65th percentile height).
The key is have your baby rear-facing as long as possible – this is the safest way for them to ride.

Just FYI: even with this carseat’s lowest harness height, the straps are too high to fit 99% of newborns (as straps must come from below shoulders when rear facing). It is one of the few infant seats NOT recommended by car seat technicians. It is also rear-adjust, which is a pain-in-the-you-know-what when putting baby in and taking them out.

@shoshana: This car seat actually does not fit newborns well at all. The lowest harness settings fall above the majority of Newborn’s shoulders, and for a rear facing child, the harness needs to come from below the shoulders.

@Moe: After the infant seat stage, parents can use a “convertible car seat” which can rear face until age 4+ and then forward face until the harness is outgrown. No need to go straight from an infant seat to a forward facing harnessed seat.

I disagree, your child will outgrow this catseat long before they hit the weight limit. Most one year olds are not even 22 pounds and what one year old will be happy to sit in a rear facing and reclined position? Its a great deal

@shoshana: Mazal tov!! Beshaa tova!

S,

@deb- I disagree- the AAP now says to keep babies rear facing to minimum age 2! If you insist on keeping your child safe and rear facing, they’ll sit that way…I’ve rear faced some of my kids until 5 1/2 so I know it’s possible 🙂
The Snug Ride 22 is not a good seat for most newborns- the lowest slot will have the straps come from ABOVE the shoulders and for REAR FACING they need to be BELOW.

C!

My almost 3 year old rear faces and has never once complained. Since its way safer to keep her that way that’s what I intend to do. Anyone stating that a 1 year old can forward face needs to do more research
