“More and more observant Jews are crossing the Pacific every year, for both business and pleasure. Numerous questions arise, such as: · What day is Shabbos in Japan, Hawaii, Alaska, and Australia? At what point do I cross from one day to the other? May I fly from Asia to the US on Friday or Sunday? When crossing into “yesterday,” does one pray again? What about tefillin and sefiras ha’omer? What about crossing into “tomorrow”? Finding answers to these and many other significant questions is not a simple matter. The Gemara and the Rishonim do not explicitly discuss the dateline, and almost everything about it (including its very location) is widely disputed by contemporary poskim — and often misunderstood by laymen. And due to the unusual intricacies involved, even many rabbanim do not have clarity on these issues. Crossing the Dateline offers fresh analysis of the issues like never before: · Comprehensive, in-depth, and extremely well-researched and thought-out, it is a unique and indispensable resource for the rav and scholar. · Easy-to-read, with simple lists, tables, maps, and a Quick Reference Guide, it gives clear practical direction for the layman and traveler on the go. About the Author: Rabbi Mordechai Kuber is the rav of Congregation Nachlas Tzvi Ohel Avraham in Telz-Stone, Israel and a fixture in the Mir Yeshiva in Jerusalem. He is also a kashrus veteran, a writer, and a teacher, and travels frequently to the Far East.”

Huge talmud chacham with shoulders
Wow! This is a great deal. Rabbi Kuber is a huge Talmid Chacham and is certainly suited to tackle this complicated topic. Just ordered it and can’t wait to read it.
In for one. Curious to see how it compares to Shitas Chabad and if that’s mentioned at all.

It’s an all encompassing book. He does go thru shitas chabad, including his discotions with rabbanie Chabad.
He has strong questions on the current chabad minhag in Hawaii.
Thanks, I asked a Chabad Rov who said he has some strong questions on Rabbi
Kuber’s maskanas, but I’ll be reading it iy”h.
Thats why he did not publish in Hebrew too get other people of his back… will always have someone who disagress;)
Would love for you to post your impressions of the book after you’ve read it.
It’s quite an in depth read, I’ve read it about three times, and still don’t think that I have a handle on everything that he writes.
Got it, Thanks
I see he mentions Chabad shita, actually starts with a appreciation to all the Chabad houses which as a traveler to the far east he enjoys their service.
Looks like a great piece of work and a lot of hard work went into compiling it.
Surprised that it’s sold so cheap when it just recently came out.
Dead. $65 now.

dan, how do you know when seforim are price mistakes and when they are on sale? i dont think its muttar to buy it if it is a mistake.
If Amazon is the seller then it’s a sale. They pay the same price to the distributor no matter what.
Correct, asked someone who knows R’Kuber and was involved in publishing.. once they bought it off him, what price Amazon sells it for does not effect him.
Another book very cheap.
