Check with your Rabbi on if/how it can be used on Shabbos, especially since it has an adjustable temperature control.

Thank G-d we live in a country fully committed to freedom of speech. I can freely recommend to people who may care to check with their Rabbi. You can freely spout off, claiming I’m “the חומרה police.”
Liam, may I suggest dipping the device into a mikvah with it plugged in and on? I ‘second’ that you are being overly strict. There are many appliances and lights-witches that have dials and nobs, simply covering it with a cup, foil, or tape suffices. This is not a new phenomenon.
I guess you feel that blog posts are the preferred method of approaching Shabbos issues and my suggestion of enquiring of an actual rabbi is “overly strict.”

With all respect, I haven’t and won’t ask questions on here regarding “Is this kosher?”, “Is the suit Shatnez?”, “Can this hotwater urn be used on Shabbos or Yomtov?”. I see it all the time, but you won’t find me asking those types of questions. I believe I’ve seen you inquire such questions before. You are I share different Rabbonim and come from various communities; I have this particular hot plate- and it’s a simple 5-second “fix” with the nob.
Covering it with aluminum foil is perfectly enough.
