What is self sharpening? Is it a problem for shabbas?
I was thinking the same thing. How do we remove/store these on shabbos? Any thoughts?
I looked into the product a little more (reading product reviews etc.). It seems that the self-sharpeners are only the 5 slots that are on the metal plate. That’s 13 pieces of cutlery in a total of 15 slots (remember, only 5 of the slots are self-sharpening slots; so you can just avoid using those 3-5 pieces on shabbos)
From the picture, it would seem that the larger knives only fit into the self sharpening slots. I would consult a Rabbi about Shabbos ramifications before purchasing these.
