The new MacBook Air starts at $999 and is a much much better buy. Sorry Dan, but almost no one should buy this model at this price.

Dan

$1,249 with 512gb SSD.

david

M1 is still the better buy.

Dan

If you have the extra $270 to spend, of course it is.

justanotherperson

Sorry but I have to agree with the guy above. Also, anyone could get the education pricing on apple.com so it’s 100 cheaper. No one should get the previous model

Dan

How can anyone get edu pricing?

If that’s your only important criteria, then sure (that’s why I wrote “almost”). In every other way the older model gets crushed by the massive generational leap that the new chip provides. Its almost impossible to recommend to anyone without a very significant discount compared to the price of the new model.

Dan

Nothing is being recommended.
But if someone needs the 512GB and doesn’t want to spend an extra $270 after tax for the new chip then this represents some nice savings.

To each their own.

Mogul

I wasn’t trying to imply that you’re recommending it. I’ve only got respect for you and DandDeals and I’m sorry if it came across wrongly. Just wanted to make sure that people who aren’t up to date with the latest tech, don’t buy what seems like a good deal when it isn’t for most.

Dan

Same here, exactly why we write previous model in the title 🙂

Appreciate your help in keeping me updated on the latest tech. Being not so tech savvy, I depend on people like you to keep me educated on what is out there and not waste my money. So, please continue to share your knowledge.
And Dan, as always appreciate your posting these deals as some people may just need it bcos of budget. So please continue to post deals.

Happy New year and continue to stay safe everyone!

Technically anyone can use the site since you don’t have to prove that you’re a student. If you ask for education pricing in store then they may ask for some form of education ID.

Chaim

Sorry Dan, anyone who has $999 to drop on a new machine should not buy this model. Not a very strong value proposition or use case for the last gen – this should be at least $100-$200 cheaper before being consider a “deal”.
