Amazon, like every business, is always trying to optimize and change what they do.
This week, Amazon introduced “Final Sale” items.
It seems to be mostly discounted items that they are looking to clear out of their warehouses. Those are often the items we share as they are at their lowest price ever.
You can see an item’s return eligibility on every product page, right below who the seller is:
For example, this size 10 UGG we shared for just $38.19 is at its lowest price ever and is final sale, while the size 7 is $107.47 and comes with free returns.
The move here is logical for Amazon; they are often selling items at a loss from their purchase price, which is worth it for them to clear storage space, but they are optimizing this system by not losing even more money with returns.
There are still a few great credit cards that will give you return protection; those are now more valuable than ever!
Here is a list of those cards and the benefit details:
The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, The Blue Cash Preferred® Card, The Platinum Card® from American Express, Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant®, Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Card, Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card, Amazon Business Prime American Express Card, or Chase Sapphire Reserve®. AMEX return protection is valid for $300 (after discounts, before tax) in refunds per item and $1,000 per year per card. In most cases, AMEX allows cardholders to keep items that are refunded via return protection, though occasionally, they give a prepaid return label to ship them back. Chase return protection is valid for $500 per item and $1,000 per year per card and requires the cardholder to return the item at their own expense. Eligibility and Benefit level varies by Card. Terms, Conditions and Limitations Apply. Please visit americanexpress.com/benefitsguide for more details.
- With Return Protection, you may return eligible purchases to American Express if the seller won’t take them back up to 90 days from the date of purchase. American Express may refund the full purchase price excluding shipping and handling, up to $300 per item, up to a maximum of $1,000 per calendar year per Card account, if you purchased it entirely with your eligible American Express® Card. Purchases must be made in the U.S. or its territories.
- Eligibility and Benefit level varies by Card. Terms, Conditions and Limitations Apply.

Amex is $300 total after tax, not before tax.
I have gotten refunded for $300+tax.
YMMV?
Does Chase allow you to keep the item?
Who takes the hit for this, the credit card company or the seller? If it’s the credit card company, then what good would returning the item do? The seller wouldn’t even know it’s being returned or what to do with it.
No.
Credit card company. It’s returned to the credit card company. Chase can resell the item if they want.
Presumably the idea is to ensure that people don’t file a return claim for a product that they actually have full intention of keeping.
Great twist to mention the cc return protections! Thanks for staying on top of your game.
any cards with no AF that provide return protection?
Yes, see the cards in the post. 🙂
The blue cash preferred is no AF for first year only. There aren’t any cards with no af that have return protection.
besides the amazon prime cc do any other have no annual fee term
How can I view all these items?
Amex Everyday Preferred also has RP
Yes, but it’s not available to new applicants.
I didn’t know this and I have it. They plan to discontinue it?

Is there a way to view their final sale items?
Jeff can’t be too happy seeing this
In future posts, please include if the item final sale.
Agreed
The Nordstrom Rack sales often posted here are also almost always final sale, which is a dealbreaker for me nearly always on online clothing shopping.
Thanks for explaining!
Where can I find the final sale items?
