Update: Amazon has confirmed to me that the Israel free shipping program has been temporarily paused.
Unfortunately Amazon has killed free shipping and is restricting the shipment of most items to Israel.
That comes as international cargo rates have skyrocketed as airlines discontinue service due to coronavirus.
I’d assume this is a temporary measure and we’ll see its return when flights and cargo rates return to normal. I reached out to Amazon for comment.
The Verge notes that Amazon in some countries, like France and Italy, is now only shipping essentials.
While 3rd party sellers can still fulfill all items, Amazon warehouses there are only shipping essentials in those countries.
In the US, Amazon is focusing on essentials, but is still shipping non-essential items sold by Amazon. They have suspended the incoming fulfillment of non-essentials by 3rd party sellers, but those sellers can still ship directly to consumers. Amazon is also offering increased no-rush credit in exchange for accepting slower shipping speeds. They have also increased Prime fulfillment times on all items.
Hopefully Amazon will continue to be able to ship everything in the US. As more states ask people to stay home, websites like Amazon become more critical than ever.a free trial of Amazon Prime.
