Amazon seems to be more frequently putting added coupons or promotions just below the price on each product page. This might be so they can price discriminate better, either by targeting discounts toward particular customers or just by capturing that extra bit of consumer surplus from those who click through without noticing and would have bought at the undiscounted price anyway. Or maybe it’s to prevent data on their prices from being as easily scraped.
