would any body know if it is possible to disable the internet on this Ipod. looking to purchase it for a young teen and would really not want her to be able to get online.

Yes. A few ways. It has a parental control settings section where the parent can limit with a password which apps the child can access as well as preventing the child from downloading new apps. Also, there are now blockers/ filters made for the iPhone/ iTouch. Check out this article:
