Just that alone is worth it for me. The rebate cheque not only covers the fee, but is usually 50-100 more. So basically they are paying me to shop there. There are coupons during the year that are executive members only, so that’s another bonus. Plus the card is cooler 🙂
I’m being charged sales tax in NY by Groupon. Is that normal? AFAIK, there is no tax if you buy/apply in the warehouse
According to the lady at Costco, if you upgrade to Executive for $65, you can cancel any time and get a refund. So if you don’t make $65 from the 2% you can just get your money back.
For a couple years they were guaranteeing that the rebate check would be at least the increased cost. That was nice.

For anyone who has Excecutive Membership (and plans on continuing to have it), I recommend checking out the Citi Costco card. It’s offers 4% cash back for gas (5% on Costco gas) and 2% back on Costco orders on top of the regular 2% from the Excecutive Membership.
