[Update: Hotels Ordered To Collect Guest Quarantine Forms From 35 States And Territories] New York Tri-State Area 14 Day Quarantine For Everyone Arriving From States With High COVID-19 Infection Rates

Update, 8/18: Mayor de Blasio signed an executive order that hotels and short term rentals must collect quarantine forms from travelers who have been to the 35 states and territories below, before giving guests access to a room.

The full quarantine list now includes Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Virgin Islands, and Wisconsin.

Update, 8/11: NY says that they will add checkpoints to enforce their quarantine. Enforcement up until this point has been lax.

Originally posted on 6/24:

Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York are announcing a mandatory 14 day quarantine for people coming from states that currently have a high COVID-19 infection rate. The quarantine will apply to visitors and NY tri-state area residents that arrive from the affected states.

The initial states affected will include Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington, Utah and Texas. Those states currently have more than 10 COVID positive cases per 100,000 residents over a 7-day rolling average or have a 10% or higher positivity rate over a 7-day rolling average.

In NY, violators will be subject to a $2,000-$10,000 fine and forced quarantine.

This comes after states like Florida and Texas announced a quarantine on arrivals from the the NY tri-state area back in March. But the tables have now turned as infection rates there have exploded while infection rates in the NY tri-state area have continued to drop.

Texas dropped their quarantine requirement, but Florida still has their quarantine requirement for arrivals from the NY tri-state area in place.

The quarantine will go into effect tonight, though how it will be enforced is anyone’s guess.

Do you think that the mandatory quarantine will be enforced?

What are the “states with significant community spread”?

Good luckt rying

Matt B

Huh? Aren’t those the states that already have the highest infection rates?

No, we are some of the only states to have flattened the curve. Now states like FL, Texas, CA & AZ have the highest case numbers.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the only thing flattened in New York were its seniors. The virus simply killed enough people that you’re now at herd immunity. At least that’s a good thing.

i would assume you and I have very different definitions of flattening the curve. I recall NY hospitals being overwhelmed and flooded, yet these states actually did flatten the curve and that is why they are getting incrementally hit. Vs NY which basically just took it all at once (did NOT flatten the curve), sent people back into nursing homes (Essentially killing the elderly) is now considered the good guy!?!?!?! Wow

Nope. They had spent 40 million on the field hospital and the ship and never even used them.

Via NYT: Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced on Wednesday that New York and two neighboring states will begin requiring certain out-of-state residents entering their states to quarantine for two weeks upon arrival.

Note that it’s only for out-of-State residents, basically just visitors.

More via NYT: The new quarantine requirement in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut would apply only to visitors from states where the indicators of the virus’s spread have reached specific levels.

Practically impossible to enforce (domestic quarantine) for many reasons. FL hasn’t been enforcing it, and I can’t imagine NY will be able to do better.

Just Sayin

Cops aren’t busy with real crimes in NYC these days, so now they’ll have something to do.

In canada they were known to do random checks at some of the addresses listed and made you come to the window with photo ID

Cuomo and his stupidity

Of my 5th floor apartment???

From another country, it’s easier to track. But it’s pretty simple to just fly into PHL. Or to make a layover on the way to NYC.

Ayelet May

So what are the logistics? How do they enforce this? (My daughter has the first flight out in the morning!)

Maybe she should quarantine in any event?? Who cares how it is enforced? Just do the right thing.

Eliezer N Eisenberg

היהפך כושי עורו ונמר חברברתיו?????

What about traveling between NY and NJ and back? Is that okay?

Cases have gone up, but deaths have so far been extremely consistent.

I hope they enforce it well. I know some New Yorkers who are planning on flying back from Florida with a stop in Atlanta in the hope that they won’t be quarantined.

The same way many people from New Jersey flew to orlando from philly airport to bypass this.

Cuomo just said it also applies to New Yorkers returning from Florida vacation

Shame how people are so scared of the common cold

Do you not know anyone who has died of Covid?

Howard Winkler

Yes. I personally knew Rabbi Morgan, Izzy Shulman, Motty Shulman, and about another 10-12 who were nifter from Covid. I also know at least 20 -25 people in my Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles that were in ICU some for as long as a month! This is real. Please take all precautions and stay safe.

Yes a 62 year old friend who they just got thru their Granddaughter fighting Cancer. It’s very real. Has made other friends very ill. Young ones! Please be safe it is not a cold but a flu with a machine gun.

Just Sayin

Crazy how deadly the common cold has become

Crazy how significantly overestimated the mortality rate was.

curious logic

is that why misaskim was overwhelmed?

Crazy, how Cray Cray this virus is y’all

Troll go back to your hole.

I live in Detroit and was planning a 2 day vacation in Miami before heading to New Jersey will I be forced to quarantine?

Coumo desribed this how it will be enforced:
An out of state person comes to a business meeting, and the fellow at the meeting asks him, when did you arrive? And he answers; yesterday, right away the fellow will dial the police…
Simply laughable

More idiocy from the socialist democrats. With the exception of domestic flights this will be impossible to do, and even then I can’t imagine you’d be able to get much compliance to this newest abuse of power. But I guess they could always fall back on having the police catching those dangerous five year olds looking to play outside. I wonder if they’ll take a lesson from the genius lawmakers in Oregon and decide that this travel ban doesn’t apply to “people of color.”

You do realize the GOP controlled states of FL and TX both implemented similar rules in March.

I agree that it didn’t make much sense either at that time. However, at least then, during the peak of the pandemic and with NY failing miserably at control, it was a just misguided approach to limiting spread. The current rule proposed by Il Duce is simply the petty chest thumping of a vindictive dictatorial little man trying to cover up his previous ineptitude.

Imagine being so indoctrinated that you can’t see the parallels between these two situations.

I never denied that there are similarities. However the situations are not identical, and it seems to me and many others that this is more of a political reaction than the earlier approach by Florida. I’m not indoctrinated, but I’ve only experienced a single positive outcome of a Democrat run government in the past 30 years, and that was NYS giving out free food for all school aged children during this pandemic. Excuse me for being a little cynical since the millions of dollars I’ve paid in taxes over the years has gotten me a few bottles of milk and loaves of bread. I guess as long as we can riot and loot without the police around to stop us it’s all worth it…

really doubt you’ve personally paid ‘millions’ in taxes, but also expect you and your community have used roads, public transportation, health services etc paid for by taxes

I thought the numbers looked crazy also but doing the math I see that sadly I am correct. When I take the subway I have to swipe my Metrocard, not a copy of my W2. My private insurance that I pay for covers some of my medical bills, and I have to pay the rest out of pocket. But I also pay for public schools that I don’t use and state sanctioned infanticide. I know that taxes do cover some essential services, but sometimes it feels like those public roads should really be paved in gold for the amount we pay for them. Tolls that were instituted to cover the construction costs of new highways and bridges keep going up rather than ending, as an example of just another way to tax us without raising taxes.

You pay millions in taxes, have been getting free milk and loaves of bread, and save even more money because you read Dansdeals. Imagine if Jeff Bezos also read Dansdeals. He’d be even Richer. Oh, I forgot. He doesn’t pay taxes…

Cuomo did the worst job in the US and now he want’s to be the hero.

Yep, he likes to grandstand.

Cuomo did a good job with the cards he was dealt. Hindsight is 20-20, YY. It’s very easy to criticize, but a lot harder to deal with multifactorial and complex situations like this one. The best one can do is listen to the science and medical professionals. This is their turf, this is their expertise. Newsom did a good job here in California, until we reopened. It was too early and everyone just went back to normal forgetting that the virus was obviously still around. It’s a relatively easy problem to solve – wear masks, social distance. That’s simple. We NEED to get the economy back up and running, we need to get schools open. We can’t do that until people commit to wearing masks and social distance. If everyone does that, we’ll be back, stronger than ever, and our economy will be back too. Although it will take years for certain industries to be back like they use to. But we can do it. IF we understand the science behind this and take simple steps to reduce spread, bring numbers down, etc.

I hate to burst your bubble, but the virus doesn’t care if you wear masks or social distance. You’ll still get the virus. And then the necessary percentage of people who are necessary to get to herd immunity get the virus, and it goes away. Your Stanford scientists say it’s about 15 to 20%, which is what the data confirms. All the lose of freedom and money has been useless. At best, you “flattened the curve,” which only means you got the same amount of cases you otherwise would have but in a longer period of time. And now, due to geography, it seems to be California’s turn to suffer. Sorry.

You missed the idea of FLATTEN THE CURVE. It was to slow down the cases so there will be beds in the hospital. yes, some cases will come later but there will be room in the hospital.

Mom in the south

Cuomo did not use the cards he had. Cuomo was handed over the javitz center and a huge medical ship and chose to send patients to nursing homes and killed thousands of elderly. So sad and wrong.

any one know if i fly to NY tomorrow and leave within a week, will they not let me leave because im meant to be in quarantine ?

You can come and you can go worry free

What about those tested and are negative and have anti-bodies?

Can you quarantine in a sleepaway camp?

Just Sayin

One that’s open illegally? Definitely.

10 per 100000? is what infection rate?

US Strong

Can probably easily be avoided by taking a flight with a stopover in another state, (or if they’ll check the ticket; then by booking separately).

Pure politics. Cuomo knows how to play the press game and this is just another example.

He didn’t want Trump to get credit for sending NY two hospitals, so he kept the Navy hospital ship ‘Comfort’ empty and kept the Javitz center empty. Instead, he murdered 10,000 old people in nursing homes by forcing many covid patients into the facilities, all so that he can free up hospital beds and not need to use the hospitals Trump provided. One day more info will come out as to what else he did in hospitals and how many more he murdered, all due to his politics.

The sleeve jew

Trump cult member

….said a socialist koolaid thirster

And a Cumo cultist. Literally the only reason Cuomo doesn’t look as bad as he deserves to is bec his partner in crime De Blasio is prob the worst human being on the planet. A pair of shmucks.

The ship was under federal orders not to take people who had covid. It was for overflow fir other medical reasons. Here’s more https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.businessinsider.com/usns-comfort-leaving-nyc-few-coronavirus-patients-three-weeks-2020-4%3famp

I heard there will be a lawsuit vs Cuomo and the gov of Michigan for murdering all the nursing home old people

Lkwd girl

Well said my man

Why not just require 2 negative tests and your free? Why quarantine people when testing is available? Why not offer testing in the airport upon arrival? Testing is widely available now

Mom in the south

You have to wait a period of time after traveling to get tested. It is not immediately upon landing.

Just break your quarantine l’eilui nishmas George Floyd and you’re set!

It’s not clear which states require to be quaratined when coming from NY Tri-State area (it seems that the title of this page was changed).

Oh please they aren’t even enforcing basic laws … cops have gone AWOL
Announcing policies you can’t and won’t enforce is just adding to the list of stupid stuff our local governments have been doing

great point. I heard that the cops are having a protest in NYC next weekend. As well as they should. DIBlasio is disgusting for disrespecting them.
Lets see what happens when they defund the police. NYC/SF/Chicago/Seattle are gonna turn into something even worse than it is today

The NYPD isn’t full of saints and it’s got a contingent that disrespects the 1st Amendment rights of peaceful protesters of sorts with which they don’t like. And don’t give me any bovine manure about the NYPD’s intermittent violations of peaceful protesters’ First Amendment rights being nothing more than “justifiable”/“understandable” collateral damage due to violent criminals being violent criminals.

The NYPD may have a lot of cops on overdrive trying to rack up overtime income so they can use that to maximize their gaming of the retirement scheme.

Cutting back on the distribution of military surplus gear to police is just fine by me, even as that is a form of defunding the police.

Doesn’t DansDeals have people who come from communities that were victims of fascism in Europe? And yet today I encounter DansDeals having advertisements on it that are trying to raise money for Trump’s re-election, a fund-raising advertisement that explicitly highlights Trump’s opposition to anti-fascism/anti-fascists.

Does this website really want to be in the business of peddling and financially benefiting from political ads of this sort?

So I’m guessing this should reduce the crowds on the beaches in FL? at least in all the tourist spots

I don’t understand why quarantine with all it’s enforcement challenges is necessary when they can easily subject all arrivals to a rapid test.
This really doesn’t make sense to me unless these tests are not really available or they are to expensive

Are raspy tests accurate? What if the virus didn’t incubate yet?

Perfect is the enemy of good? The measure is about depressing traffic of sorts, even as it won’t be perfect at eliminating all of the targeted traffic.

Just fly into phl! For jersey.

This entire policy is based on the assumption that the reason for the decrease in cases in the tri-state area is because of their social distancing policy. Which they have no proof for and and on the contrary there’s proof the other way. The most likely reason why we’re seeing a decrease in cases is because of immunity, because the tri-state area already got slammed by the virus and most people are immune the proof being that there were protests and riots with thousands and thousands participating in it with no social distancing and yet somehow there’s a decrease in cases must be because of immunity. And if that’s the case that it is because of immunity then this policy is not necessary because we’re immune.

It’s definitely herd immunity. But that doesn’t fit Cuomo’s political narrative. And, frankly, his judgment is so sketchy that HE may not even understand it. But Nobel Laureate Michael Levitt understands. The data indicates you need only 15 or 20% infection rate to be at herd and NY is way above that. Cuomo’s policies did NOTHING to stop the virus or even slow it down. He was way too late. All he could have done was save some lives in the nursing homes, but I don’t really fault him for that given the fog of war. The good news is that the entire Northeast and Upper Midwest seems to be at herd (Boston to Minneapolis to DC), so everyone there can semi-safely watch the latest infection pan out. I recommend not following Cuomo and doing it un-smugly.

People haven’t been social distancing there’s been protest and ny nj haven’t seen anything unless your aware of a vaccine that’s the onlyecplanation

Great. Cite a source that is simply wrong. Anyone who can do basic math and read basic data (like worldometer) can tell you that you don’t need 70% for immunity and that Levitt is correct. Perhaps that’s why he has a Nobel prize and you don’t?

This isn’t true. Sweden has approximately only 17% infected and they achieved herd immunity.

Totally agree @joelfreak. People on this forum don’t seem to understand basic science. 5%, 10%, 15%, etc. is NOT herd immunity. It’s just immunity of that percentage of the population, which is not the “herd”. The herd is the majority of the population. Duh. The U.S. won’t reach herd immunity on its own, it will have to wait for a vaccine.

Herd immunity is at least 60%. A majority of people need to be immune. 20% doesn’t cover it

Take a look at Sweden before you make such conclusions. They never locked down their economy or schools and only 17% were infected, and now the virus there is gone! Any explanation other then mass immunity ??

Lol. Dude/dudette. The virus is NOT gone in Sweden. Another person who doesn’t understand science. The virus is CONTAINED, but it’s still there. 17% or 20% is NOT herd immunity. READ. EDUCATE yourself.

I guess you’re entitled to your own opinions even if they’re unsupported by facts. My suggestion: stop digging. Sweden has herd immunity. As does much of Western Europe and much of the Northern USA. Technically, it’s virus “burnout.” We are now seeing the same thing happen in the Sunbelt. I don’t know why people refuse to believe the data. I guess it’s because there are so many politicians and talking heads in the media who are similarly ignorant. But everyone will eventually learn, if they want to.

Voice of Reason

Basically this is not the year for leisure travel. Yes there are ways to fool the system. Yes it’s mostly rooted in an honor system. Moral of the story is stay home unless there’s an urgency.

There’s a reason, we live in a free country and we have the right to,vacation. The dem party wants to be dictators and control ,you

What if you’re not at risk of getting the disease or spreading it? Should you stay home simply to virtue signal?

Bernard fried

Is it being enforced or voulantaty

does this quarantine apply for people coming in from overseas?

Will airlines refund if I’m flying to NY and can’t quarantine? Delta, AA

Yossi obadia

im curently in miami and need to go back to new york on sunday as early as possible without quarantine.. which airports can i do a stop over in without having to quarintine in nyc?

Any airport that’s not in a state that you will need to quarantine in.

This is my great luck! I booked the Air Serbia flight deal for Peasch, that didn’t work out….. I just recently booked a flight to Fort Lauderdale for the beginning of July!!! I guess wherever I want to go becomes an issue 🙂 BTW I am going to be landing in NJ (EWR) I live in NY will that help me avoid quarantining. or will NY will have my info?

What if I fly to one of those states and don’t step out of the airport, just returning back to NY? Is there a quarantine order?

Mrs. M

If I live in New Jersey and im flying from phl to fll in July when I come back from Florida do I have to be in quarantine?

Not if you fly back to phl and drive to jersey

What about airport transfers? If you have a layover in one of these states, but your origin was not on the list, would you still have to quarantine?

Do you have to quarantine if you have a layover in one of those states?

What about arriving from Israel?

What about pa?
Is this the third wave of the Cuomo virus?

mountain man

Lol after many of those states got it from NY travelers

HAHAHH ROFL Finally someone said it!

Since when did this become a forum for how to evade the law? America has all kinds of laws that are hard to enforce, from littering to speeding to robbery, and now quarantine. Whether we agree with the laws or not, we are bound to abide by them. Society depends on it.

see ב”ק דף נ”ח תוס’ ד”ה א”נ
ואם יש שר שבא לשנות את הדין ולעשות דין לעצמו אין זה דינא דמלכותא שהרי הדין אין הגון כלל ודמיא למוכס שאין לו קצבה

And how about this one:

ואלו הן שמצילין אותן בנפשן הרודף אחר חבירו להרגו

“Cuomo said the quarantine will apply to any state where 10 of every 100,000 people test positive on a rolling seven-day basis, or where the positivity rate in the total population is 10 percent, also on a seven-day rolling basis.”

can someone break this down more?

“Cuomo says police will be stopping cars with out of state plates in New York.”

miriam kaireyy

How is New York, powerless at preventing rioters from wrecking the city, going to force law-abiding citizens to quarantine? I wouldn’t comply.

Just sayin sayin...

If you don’t comply you are no longer a law-abiding citizen…

75% of infections in the eastern US originated in NY State/NYC.
With businesses opening up in NY and lockdown lifting expect NY/NJ have a new spike in infections again. There is a MAJOR difference between the infections and hospitalizations and deaths. The latter two is what matters
On one hand – that’s what we need to get the immunity.

BY THE WAY – when Florida announced the quarantine for NY-ers coming here in March – we had a huge flood of people coming. Almost none of them respected the quarantine. Thats a fact. How do you enforce that?
Same in NY. People will be going back there – does Cuomo really expect them to stay home and not open their businesses, etc?
In Israel they did a good job. Here – not really feasible.

I have a car rental with Florida plates that means I will be stopped multiple times a day

Dan\'s the Man

It would be an illegal stop (as far as I understand – I’m not a lawyer). Even if you were really from Florida just because you’re driving in NY it doesn’t mean you came in the last 14 days and they no probable cause to assume you did. Obviously if they see crossing the Delaware Memorial Bridge into NJ that would be probable cause.

Leaving from CA to NY with a stopover in TX…. Will I have to quarantine when I land in NY? Thanks!

If I’m coming from LA with a stopover in Texas will I have to quarantine?

any update on enforcement?

Zero Enforcement

Mr Mayor

Murphy said today that it’s voluntary in NJ

Dan\'s the Man

Apparently it would probably violate interstate commerce laws if someone would sure the states in Federal Count. If someone gets a $2,000 fine from Cuomo I assume it would be worth the effort to sue him in Federal court. I’m looking forward to see a case and see the outcome!

If I am from NY and fly ewr to CA and come back. Than I fly a few days later out again to another place is anyone looking at history that I just flew from CA to NY and was suppose quarantine ?

Why not just quarantine then? Or dont go? There is a reason for this. People should do the right thing and follow if traveling is a must.

Why not just not quarantine then?

So can one fly from California to Philadelphia and then drive to NY and NJ and not quarantine under the guidelines?

Dan it would be nice if someone in the know could clarify some of these repeating questions such as is the quarantine only for people flying into the 3 states, what about a stop over in between meaning from infectious state, stop over in a non-infectious state and then landing in tri-state.

maybe you can get find someone that knows these details?

also surprised no post yet on Air Canada’s adversarial stance against DOT regulations. this seems unprecedented!

Happens if you have a stopover in I state that you’re allowed to travel to New York without quarantine do you have to quarantine

Dan\'s the Man

Officially you have to but it would be hard for them to track you

Does someone have more info re quarantine in NY? It would be appreciated.

Don’t worry
Me and 3 other friends all on SEPARATE flights this last week from Florida to NYC. When you get off the plane they give you a paper to fill out. It’s a joke!! Everyone took it and threw it in the trash.

I and all my friends (separate flights) all walked out with no issue and no one was collecting the paper

More dysfunctional than any yeshiva I’ve been to lol.

This is idiotic.
NY hasn’t done anything to flatten the curve despite Cuomo’s bragging. Infections have gone down because most people were already infected and there is herd immunity.

Does anyone know if there are any quarantine rules from any countries outside the USA into NY?
Are these only from US States or are any countries outside the USA on the list?

Dan\'s the Man

Nah Brazil is okay! Cuomo is nuts.

Pondering Fellow

Just wondering: how in the world are you able to enforce such things, its not even possible!?

Sooner or later they’ll place those restrictions on about 35-40 states.

This is getting so out of control. Dictator Cuomo is imposing these restrictions from states that 10 out of 100,000 people are testing positive. Not dying. Just testing positive.

To be fair, the dead people are staying where they are

I’m so happy that Cuomo is doing this. This is such a benefit for me and my fellow new Yorkers! Please continue and don’t give into pressure!

Seriously. 10 per 100k. It’s like 0.01%. such a bias. Each state has more sick people with other deseases

Rivka Wagner

What if I drive to NY from OH, will i still have to quarantine or is this just for flights?

They must also complete a DOH Traveler Health Form that will be distributed by airlines and is available online here: https://t.co/8micaXlbwF

So only those that enter NY airports have to fill this out? what about EWR?

Why only from other states and not from other countries

Most importantly, I get the quarantine. But protests allowed yea?

With Ohio now going up and on the list ,Dan is it smart and safe that there opening a sleepover camp in your city of Cleveland with hundreds of boys coming from all different states??
Just want your feeling on it , after all your living there in Cleveland and see and feel this first hand.

Dan\'s the Man

If they’ll all be together on a closed campus it’s no issue.

What’s the policy in New York for people flying in via EWR ?? Does New Jersey share information with New York ??

The airport announced that people from those areas with high rates should quarantine for 14 days. No enforcement made.

Rediculous that Maryland is included. Have been under 5% positive on a rolling 7 days for a while

why alaska ??? 🙁 Cuomo is really getting on my nerves

It’s important for all here to know that if you’ve visited these states for less than 24 hours you are exempt from the quarantine and form.
I fly every week to CA for less than 24 hours and it’s all great

Dan\'s the Man

Cuomo and Murphy are making it into a joke. By having so many states on there it will actually make more people ignore this rule. Delaware they put on there, then they took them off, now they’re back on today. Delaware should not be on the list at all!

Dan\'s the Man

Coumo went Georgia yesterday and isn’t going into quarentine. Hypocrite!
He claims he doesn’t have to because he’s essential? Really Cuomo? You couldn’t do a video conference to the people in Georgia to offer your help to them?

Has anyone landed at JFK recently. Is this quarantine being enforced? I am landing in NY from California on Thursday 23, and have a flight out on Sunday 26. Thanks. Much appreciated!

Yes, I landed at JFK last night and there were agents collecting the forms that need to be filled out on the plane. The questions asked about travel info and place of planned quarantine.

Good for you NY. Stay strong.

New York tough. Lol

Btw if you look on the NJ state website you will see that it is not a mandatory requirement rather highly advised and recommended…

I landed in LGA on Sunday and there were zero signs of enforcement. No papers, no announcements, no nothing. There was a lady sitting at a folding table off to the side in the non secure area that you could talk to if you wanted to. I walked right by her and so did everyone else.

L Steinherz

Is quarantine required for people arriving from Israel?

Per the CDC:
Stay home for 14 days from the time you returned home from international travel.

Israel O

It’s a joke. Our 2 teenagers came back from Florida on July 28th. No questions asked when checking in and boarding flight, nor questions asked when disembarking on La Guardia.
Just politics. Gov doesn’t want tourists, no business opened, no hotel or restaurants hiring.

What airline

Going from NJ to Chicago and back. Is that going to make me quarantine when I get back?

Officially yes, realistically no

What about going to Chicago from NJ and then to Denver and returning. That gonna be a problem?

Seems like they don’t want anyone to enjoy their summer vacation!

Seems like this might not be the best summer for a vacation.

This is a JOKE!

You’re laughing?

Barry D

My wife returned on Friday from Chicago into EWR, no questions, no forms, no app had to be completed and no temperature checks. How do they plan on enforcement, is it the airlines responsibility?

Murphy’s Law

In NJ it’s just a recommendation.

we’re flying into NY next week – does anyone know if this has been enforced (based on DP from visitors from other states)? we’re staying for 14 days, though in 2 separate locations.

Let us know

It’s really a non issue. They do nothing!

I arrived from Arizona last week to EWR, one announcement on the plane, and one small sign in the airport.

No enforcement whatsoever, total joke. If they were serious, they would make you fill out a form as reported in the news.

When they say less than 24 hours in a place doesn’t require quarantine, is that only for a stop over or also if you fly there and back in less than 24 hours?

Eg if I fly from NY to FL and fly back the next day do I have to quarantine?

The curve flattens itself once enough ppl are infected. This virus seems to have a 2 month life cycle. It peaks quickly then fizzles out.
I dont think anyone governor can claim that they did anything to improve that. All the lock down is extend it. Look at Israel for example, total lock-down to cases dropped and then once it opened cases went back up. Sweden’s plan is not looking so crazy anymore.

fizzles out ? it leaves dead people in its wake. I agree nobody knows how this works, but anything put in place to control this and avoid even some deaths is worth it. except for people who have been fortunate not to die or have people close to them die from this.

“To avoid even some deaths is worth it”. Considering that those measures you talk about are literally killing people and destroying people jobs, the economy, peoples mental health and so much more I think Steve has a great point.

Shmoe joe

This is a joke just landed in lga coming from mco. Live is normal!

You may want to update, that Florida is no longer requiring quarantine for people coming from NY/NJ

I just got back from California and was hoping to go to Israel next week. Can I still go? Will getting tested for corona make a difference.
Please help. Thanks Dan.

Booked tickets to LAS before this mandate was Announced. on the last day of my trip (aug. 13), before heading back home, my wife was getting very nervous after reading about supposed “crackdowns” and random highway pullovers. was looking in to rearrange my tickets to stopover in a non restricted state, there weren’t any reasonable and affordable options available, so figured I’ll rather take a gamble. I landed in EWR and, literally other then a txt msg from UNITED a small green sign right before baggage claim, asking people to self quarantine I saw nothing. It was such a JOKE!

You can just chek-in to any NY Hotel using a Passport.

Yechiel Z

Can I fly in from Maine (not on the list) without ANY restrictions or documentation?
Want to go a day on business … don’t want to have an issue on the return ?

Hi everyone, does anyone have experience with doing a layover in a nonrestricted state. I have a wedding and plan to fly to Washington state first then jfk (dw im gonna take a corona test before so no need to worry about me spreading the virus 😉 ). I was also planning on taking a passport as my id. Any other recommendations? Would this work to get around quarantine mandate? How about luggage its going straight to jfk so are they gonna give me problems? Please let me know if you guys have done this! Thanks!!

Preferably, if possible land in Newark and you will have no problem. I landed there last Friday other then a txt from UNITED and a green sign before baggage claim there was nothing there.

I was flying today from Florida to Newark and nobody asked or said anything about quarantine

Yes, same here. I flew AA from Miami to EWR on 8/13. There was some announcement in Miami but I wasn’t paying attention as I was eating. As I entered the plane no one said anything. On the flight no one said anything. As I got off no one said anything. No papers. No text. Gornisht. My son picked me up with my van (NY plates) and we drove back to Flatbush without being stopped anywhere. We took the Goethals Bridge and we didn’t see any checkpoint whatsoever. It was about 11:30pm. Maybe they don’t check at nights.

Or fly into PHL if you can – just came in last week and business as usual in the airport

Sorry if this has been covered, there were hundreds of comments to read through.
My husband is taking our 9 yr old to socially distance visit his parents who have been very lonely from California to NY on sunday. They are flying to islip wi RH southwest which apparently has not been super strict. My mother in law is booking them a hotel in her name.
1. Is there a good chance they will be ok i.e. quarantine not enforced.
2. What does it mean if u go for a 5 days trip, will they make people stay 2 weeks just to be quarantined. (Before giving mussar on how we should stay safe , both husband and daughter had and bh recovered from covid, I know it’s not foolproof but still better than nothing. And after he almost died his mother wants to see him!) Chodesh tov

I mean islip being less strict.

Do international arrivals need to quarantine in NYS?
