While AMEX is usually pretty good about offering transfer bonuses when you transfer points into miles, this is unprecedented. Either AMEX is looking to clear their books from points liabilities and/or airlines are hoping to generate revenue from selling miles to AMEX!

As always, I don’t recommend transferring bank points into miles unless you are going to redeem those miles now or in the near future as programs can devalue at any time and you lose the flexibility that bank points offer once they’re transferred.

The 40% Avios bonus and 30% Virgin Atlantic bonus stand out as very compelling offers.

If you’re able to travel to Israel, the Qantas offer is good for El Al travel, but always check on availability before transferring. The Flying Blue and Virgin Atlantic offers are good for travel on Delta to Israel and the Air Canada and Lifemiles offers are good for travel on United to Israel. The Hilton offer can be worthwhile for hotels in Israel as well.

You can currently get a bonus with 12 different transfer partners. I’ve included links to previous posts where I highlight some of the best redemption options from each program.

AMEX cards with transferable Membership Rewards points include:

Will you transfer any points to airlines or hotels with these offers?

In short – What’s today’s best valued option to redeem Amex points?

Yitz

Why is the Virgin offer compelling? And link to a post how those can be used for domestic travel? Delta?

Datapoint: Transferred out to Avianca. MR confirmation page says transfer should be 14,950 Lifemiles with the bonus. A few minutes later. 17,193 Lifemiles appeared in my account.

I just transferred to iberia yesterday and missed the bonus. Any chance customer service will honor the new rates?

Any good deals to London with these 50%?

Bradford

I’m looking for the same thing. Problem with London is the fees charged by BA and Virgin. American and United are good ways to get to London without fees but they aren’t represented here.

Joel

Yes BA

Mo

What about booking AA- MIA-TLV with BA avios ?

DAZ

I’m not seeing the bonuses showing up today for some reason. Anyone having the same experience?

Avi

Pay Yourself Back, ending today

Rod

No. I’m still in the old days, when some bonuses were 100%. Primarily Diners Club if memory serves me.

So until I see 50% or more, no thanks.
