Transfer Capital One Points To Etihad And Get Up To A 30% Bonus

Capital One points transfer to Etihad at a 1:1 ratio.

For transfers made during April you will get bonus miles:

  • Transfer 1,000 to 10,000 miles and receive 15% Bonus miles on each transaction.
  • Transfer 10,001 to 50,000 miles and receive 25% Bonus miles on each transaction.
  • Transfer 50,001 or more miles and receive 30% Bonus miles on each transaction.

In other words, if you transfer 50,100 Capital One points to Etihad, you will receive 65,130 Etihad miles. Note that the bonus miles will be added within 10 business days of the end of the campaign period, so you may not get the bonus miles until as late as May 12th. Points and bonus points are posting instantly!

A great use of Etihad miles is for travel on El Al. You can find the Etihad redemption chart for El Al flights here and the El Al redemption chart for Etihad flights here.

You can use Alaska, Etihad, or Qantas points for travel on El Al. Qantas has a very good award chart for travel on El Al, but most El Al award flights have been blocked from booking with Qantas over the past couple years.

Back in December, Alaska launched award redemption for El Al flights. Availability is excellent, and prices are variable based on the season, ranging from 40-50K in coach, 65-80K in premium, and 85-100K in business each way. However, no major US bank point currencies transfer to Alaska, so Marriott is the only decent transfer option at a 60K:25K ratio.

No major US bank point currencies transfer to El Al either.

Etihad’s award chart for travel on El Al isn’t cheap, but Etihad as the best option for booking El Al award flights, thanks to having transfer options from AMEX, Capital One, and Citi at a 1:1 ratio.

This 30% bonus makes the award chart much more affordable!

You’ll need to call either Etihad to book award travel on El Al.

Etihad award chart for El Al travel:

I called Etihad and confirmed that their award space matched up with Alaska’s generous award space in the sample dates, and not the stingy Qantas award space that showed none of this space available:

Here are what sample El Al flights will cost with Etihad miles or Capital One points with this promo:

  • Boston or NYC to Tel Aviv will clock in at 67K coach, 74K premium, or 120K Etihad miles in business each way.
    • With a 30% bonus that would be about 51.5K coach, 56.9K premium, or 92.3K Capital One points in business class each way.
  • Miami or LA to Tel Aviv will set you back 75K coach, 90K premium, or 140K business each way.
    • With a 30% bonus that would be about 57.7K coach, 69.2K premium, or 107.7K Capital One points in business class each way.

Shorter flights are a better deal.

  • Larnaca to Tel Aviv will cost 6K coach, 7.5K premium, or 10K Etihad miles in business each way.
    • With a 30% bonus that would be about 4.6K coach, 5.7K premium, or 7.7K Capital One points in business class each way.
  • Athens to Tel Aviv will cost 12K coach, 13K premium, or 20K Etihad miles in business each way.
    • With a 30% bonus that would be about 9.2K coach, 10K premium, or 15.4K Capital One points in business class each way.
  • Budapest, Dubai, Rome, or Vienna to Tel Aviv will cost 15K coach, 19K premium, or 30K Etihad miles in business each way.
    • With a 30% bonus that would be about 11.5K coach, 14.6K premium, or 23K Capital One points in business class each way.
  • Milan or Zurich to Tel Aviv will cost 23K coach, 25K premium, or 40K Etihad miles in business each way.
    • With a 30% bonus that would be about 17.7K coach, 19.2K premium, or 30.7K Capital One points in business class each way.
  • London or Paris to Tel Aviv will cost 28K coach, 31K premium, or 50K Etihad miles in business each way.
    • With a 30% bonus that would be about 21.5K coach, 23.8K premium, or 38.4K Capital One points in business class each way.

That means if you find a flight deal to Europe, you can combine it with an El Al flight to Israel by using Etihad miles.

your link “Transfer Capital One Points To Etihad And Get Up To A 30% Bonus” doesn’t work.

Od

not sure about this 67K and bonus does not post so its a gamble if dates go away?

Quantas still the best overall?

Bentzi

Does Etihad charge fees/fuel surcharges on elal when using miles?

KMC

seems like decent value. How would confirm availabilty? by calling?

Moish

So if it shows available on Alaska could we assume it’s available on Etihad? Just don’t want to be fishing in the dark when I call Etihad.

hr555

Made a transfer. The miles including the 30% bonus posted instantly!

Anthony

Are there any sweet spots with these miles to get to Europe from NYC?

David

Hi – I have about 40k miles in capital 1 and 11k in Amex – and a lot more in Chase points.

I’m thinking of meeting a friend after Pesach in Dubai and then adding a day or two in Israel. Do I transfer the miles to Alaska airlines, or you simply use the Alaska site to check avail? I see flights nonstop lax-tlv, and dbx showing on el al and eithad. Do i book via Alaska or have to call Eithad or ElAl? I’ve never used miles for one airline on another ‘metal’ before. Thanks.

Last but not least, is there a way to do it lax to stop in dubai (open jaw?) and on to Israel, back to lax? how do I book that, does that work with miles on either airline? Even if only enough for 1 way on miles, not clear best path(s) here. Thanks.

Bentzi

Made a transfer from capital one, the miles and the bonus pi’s tree d instantly.

Booked a ticket in business TLV-JFK. The ticket was available on Alaska’s site, but true etihad agent said there was no availability on that flight. I “encouraged” him to search 3 times and then finally he “found” a seat. Total price was 120,126 miles, strange

etihadElAl

hi Bentzi. were you able to book a one-way only? I am being told I can only book roundtrip for elal (via etihad award). mind sharing what number you called to book? thanks.

Yissocher

Not worth it to book economy.
Cheaper to book a revenue ticket and cover the purchase at 1 CPP with capital one.
Also although Qantas is limited availability you can still find here and there

Moishe

Dan, thanks again for a great post. Please explain all of the options to convertt miles to use for ELAL airline tickets. here is the story. I have tons and tons of Marriott points, some AMEX points and some Citi points. What are the options for ELAL airline tickets? Is it better through Alaska Airlines or Ethaid airlines or is there any other Airline that we can use to purchase ELAL airline tickets? I Would like to. Purchase Premium economy ELAL airline tickets. Looking forward for your typical beautiful detailed explanation…thanks

“With a 30% bonus that would be about 51.5K coach, ”

(I Haven’t been in the game for a while now)

I’m assuming this is round trip.

Correct?

Avi

One way

Yitz

What are Eithad redemptions values for AA domestic? Any good redemptions?

cohen

hello so i transfer my miles from capital one to etihad then i have to call customer service to book the flights manually but what do say or the exact process plz im new to this

Est

Hi would this option be a better redemption than using chase points with a reserve for 1.5 value?

Mark

Because if you’re points are in cap1, you can’t use them with chase reserve, so there is no potential to get 1.5 as here would be for shase points.

helo

dan
will it still work if i do it now?

c

If I have a elal voucher, can I book on etihad and also use the voucher to pay for some?

my08701

just to get this right. I look at Alaska, assume (of course after the call will confirm) that it has the same redemption as Etihad, call Etihad and book tickets. Basically, if I want to go coach, I can get after the 30% bonus, a round trip ticket for $700 (100,000 points less 30%). I did not see a phone number to book. is it on this post somewhere?

Y

I too received my bonus right away!!
Pls advise how I can book now nyc- tlv on etihad? Is it only by phone? How do I check for available award flights?

my08701

Dan you rock! I moved over 200,000 (net points) hopefully this does not get flooded and it will be useful soon enough 🙂 thanks for a great post and all that you do!

my08701

if you are going coach, this comes out cheaper than Qantas since its essentially 35k each way after the 30% discount. You do not get that on Qantas..

Zack

Where are you flying from? From the East Coast it’s 67k so even after a 30% bonus that’s still 51.6k Qantas only charges 37.8k

Skinfarrock

Just transferred and didn’t get the bonus just 1:1. Any advice?

My08701

I tried booking with a child under 2 and the error I got was that they require a regular ticket. Can I book the tickets for adults and then contact ELAL for a lapchild?

Y

I transferred the first time with 100,000 miles and I got the bonus right away. An hour later I transferred another 50,000 and I got no bonus at all! Please advise thank you

hr

was 2nd one done after 11:59PM UAE time?

eli

how do i book an elea flight with etihad pionts?

David

still live?

aaron

Stil going?

Yoyo

I missed this promotion if anyone has roughly 200-350 Etihad they transferred and don’t need for whatever reason I would love to trade for my cap1 points or something else
