Swiss as a policy doesn’t release first class award space to partner airlines. I last flew Swiss First back in 2010, before they stopped allowing partner airlines to book their first class cabin with miles.
Which is why I was surprised to see last minute Swiss first class award space on United.com from Boston, JFK, Newark, or Los Angeles to Zurich, elsewhere in Europe, or even Singapore via Europe tonight.
Was this real award space or was it just phantom space? I booked it just to find out and sure enough it was real:

whats the best way to book this with an amex transfer partner? LM? obviously if booking round trip ANA is probably the best way, but does ANA pass on swiss fuel surcharges and are they high in F?
