After a 4 year hiatus, Singapore awards are finally bookable on United.com once again.

This comes on the heels of the news that Singapore will no longer award 100% of the flown miles when you credit United flights to their program.

That’s not a coincidence. Clearly, United and Singapore have set their differences aside and renegotiated their internal reimbursement rates.

Singapore doesn’t typically release premium cabin award space on their 77W and A380 flights to partner airlines, you will still need Singapore miles to book a couples suite on a plane.

Back in the good old days I booked a flight from Cleveland via Newark and Singapore to the Maldives in business class for just 60K miles when Singapore had a glitch that opened award space on all of their flights. The Newark to Singapore flight that I took still holds the record for the longest nonstop commercial flight in the world.

United is devaluing their miles on 11/1. The devaluations aren’t too bad from North America, but other regions get hit much harder.

Singapore is located in the South Asia region. That region also includes Hong Kong and Thailand. Currently a flight from South Asia to Australia or New Zealand is just 17.5K United miles in coach, 30K in business, and 40K in first class. That’s a real bargain for a first class flight on Thai Airways from Bangkok to Sydney or Melbourne as it even includes an hour massage before your flight in the Thai lounge. It’s also a bargain for a business class flight on Singapore from Hong Kong or Singapore to Australia.

Those rates will go up to 25K United miles in coach, 50K in business, and 65K in first class for ticket purchased on or after 11/1.

As long as you book a ticket now you can still change the dates later on without paying more miles. Award change fees will vary.

It sure is nice to see Singapore availability on United.com again:

I believe that all of United’s partners can now be booked online except for Cape Air, Edelweiss, and Great Lakes Airlines.

Will you book a Singapore award before the devaluation?

Dan I booked on air Berlin for sukkos dates to tlv and now they flew me there but canceled me otw back. For oct 16 and so far no room for a day earlier for flights on October 15 Should I book a return ticket on Singapore star alliance after sukkos? Or do I wait for a small chance to be rebooked on another airline rep told me it would be possible for 24 hrs before the flight to be rebooked on Lufthansa etc if they can’t get me on an October 15 air berlin flight . If I end up paying for another ticket one way can I fight it out with my cc to get a full refund on the whole air berlin ticket because they only flew me there and they sent me a cancellation email ? Thanks for your help in advance and sorry for the long Megillah

re: availability of all partners online, I was not able to see Ethiopian availability from Europe to Africa and from Africa to India on UA website when booking trips three weeks ago. It showed up on expert flyer and United agents saw it when I called.
